AOL Instant Messenger is an awesome form of communication. If you have the internet you can download it for free. The best thing about it is that you can talk to anyone anywhere and it's totally free. I have spent so many hours talking to friends and family that live in other states and it would cost me tons of money in phone bills to talk to them for the same amount of time. (Plus you up your typing skills!) You can change your background and font colors and use emoticons to make your conversations more fun. You have a buddy list that keeps track of people's screen names that you talk to often. You can also put them on alert so that you get a window that pops up with a sound if you want that tells you that they've signed on and that you can talk to them. Another great feature is that you can talk to people on the talk feature. Sometimes there's a slight delay though, or an echo. Other than that the talk feature is awesome. It's like being on the phone and you can talk to people while doing other things on the computer and you don't have to hang on to a phone. As long as you have a mic and speakers you're set. Another fun feature is that you can have it check your mail for you and send you and alert when you have new mail in your inbox. You can also get stock information, news, and tons of other information while you're on AOL Instant Messenger. It's great. If you already have AOL, you can still use AIM with the same screen name. Or the opposite, if you have AIM now, and decide you're getting AOL in the future, you can use the same screen name.
