WORST Company I have ever dealt with! (Reply to this comment)
by rellyrooly
I ordered a large majority of my holiday gifts online this year and this was the only company that I have had problems with. I ordered 2 DVD's as they had the best price at the time on the DVD's. After waiting 2 weeks, I finally found out they were on backorder and I was never notified. Even their website doesn't show the information. Finally I was informed that one of the DVD's was shipped however a month and a half later, I have still not received it. I have asked this company to reship my DVD and they informed me that they would expedite and it has been a week and it is still not here! The customer service department (when you can actually get a hold of them due to long wait times) is also very poor; they are often rude and uncaring. In my opinion, it is not worth trying to save a couple of dollars on a product if it is going to bring this much trouble. Go elsewhere.

ME TOO!

I have ordered many dvd's from deepdiscount.com recently, but have grown very discontented with their service of late. Back on June 23rd I ordered a Sex and the City box set for my partner's birthday, was emailed and told it was back ordered and waited patiently for 6 weeks for it to be shipped. I never received any notification that the order was canceled, only when I went online to check my order history did I discover that they had canceled the order. I called and was simply advised that they were unable to get the title, so they cancelled the order--sorry. Also, I preordered a documentary called "Alma" back in early June. It was released today and I called to see why it was not showing as shipped. The representative said, "Sorry, we only received 25 copies, and sold 35. Yours was ordered too late to make the list of those we shipped (I find this hard to believe for this obscure film.) I did not receive any notification that it wasn't going to be shipped, simply a "sorry" when I called to find out why it hadn't arrived as they promised "on or about the release date." I won't shop with them again. Their customer service agents are not very regretful about or helpful after treating a customer in this manner. I'll spend a couple of extra bucks and order from Amazon, where at least they are consistent with their service.

DON'T BUY FROM HERE (Reply to this comment)
by motherofweston
I wanted to purchase a video game for a family member. So I looked around and found that Deep Discount had the best price plus shipping was free. Other sites wanted a few dollars more plus shipping. So I decided I couldn't pass up this deal. I placed my order and received confirmation of my order. Since I used free shipping I knew that it would take a while to get delivered. I contacted my sister a TWO WEEKS LATER to see if they had received the game. They hadn't so I checked the website and it said that the game was back order. I was very upset because I had never received notice that it was on back order. Well I emailed customer service, and they sent back a lame apology and stated that they did not know when they would get the game, but would ship it as soon as they did. That was on Friday, on Monday I ordered the game from a different site. I contacted customer service via phone on Monday. I told Laurie that I wanted to cancel my order. She sated that she could not cancel it because they received 6000 video games over the weekend. She continued and said that they are packing them for shipment as we speak. I asked if they had received my order, she could not tell me. I told her that my Deep Discount DVD account still stated that the game was on back order and had not shipped. She said that the only options I had was to refuse delivery, or return it when it is received and request a refund. How long will that take? DEEP DISCOUNT HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE CAME ACROSS. DO NOT GET FOOLED BY THE PRICE AND FREE SHIPPING. PAY THE EXTRA MONEY AND GET IT FROM A COMPANY YOU CAN TRUST(GAME STOP, BEST BUY, CIRCUIT CITY, ETC.)

I can appreciate that you didn't have a great experience. However, the remedy is to write your own review, not spam mine.

Not Worth It (Reply to this comment)

I discovered DeepDiscountDVD (DDD) through a local radio show that features their advertisements.

I finally decided to try them to pre-order a DVD that I had anxiously been awaiting. The release date was 11.04.03. Their site claims that pre-orders will be delivered on or around the release date, and that I wouldn't be billed until the order shipped.

On November 4th, I received a notice that my DVD had shipped. My bank account had been charged. Now for the kicker: it wouldn't be delivered until November 12th-15th.

In my world, I consider "on or around" to mean within a day or two. My friends who ordered from other sites received their copies the day before the release date!

This seems like a long time to receive an order, considering that my shipping address is 30 miles north of their headquarters.

I found out that Best Buy was charging the same price, and I could have picked it up the day it was released and already be enjoying my DVD. Since I live in the same state as DDD, I got charged sales tax on my order, so it wasn't that great of a saving.

People, if you are like me and like receiving your order in a timely manner, go elsewhere. There's plenty of places that will match DDD's prices and you'll receive your order on or around the release date, not over a week later.

This was my first and last order from DDD. Please, understand my plight and look elsewhere for your entertainment.

I pre-ordered a DVD from DeepDiscountDVD because I liked their free shipping and low price. It seemed like a good deal.

Well, here's the problem. The DVD was released on 11/04/03. I asked for the DVD to be shipped to my office, which is about 30 miles from their headquarters.

I got a message stating that I wouldn't be billed until it shipped. Then I got a message on 11/04 stating that it shipped and I would receive it between 11/12-11/15. Yikes! Eight to twelve days for delivery seems quit excessive, considering I live very close to where they are headquartered.

Then I saw that Best Buy had the DVD for the same price. So I could have run down to Best Buy, bought my DVD and have watched it already. My friends who pre-ordered from other sites actually received their copies BEFORE the release date.

If you're like me and want to receive your DVD's when they are released to the public, go somewhere else. There's plenty of places who will match prices if you find that Deep is cheaper.

I'm pretty bummed about the experience. I just wanted to receive my movie "on or around the release date" like their site claims. Not two weeks after I'm billed for it.

I will not order from Deep again, and I have to recommend that everyone who reads this look elsewhere.

I hate waiting for so long to get things in the mail, but if it's shipped for free I just might do it. I will have to check it out, thanks.

Wow, this place sounds like Nirvana! I'm sick of Columbia House & I'm looking for a new "house."
I will definitely give them a look-see! Thanks for the heads up!

Great review too!

Hi,

I'm not a big DVD collector but I'm going to check out this site for a few I want to get but are too expensive locally. Thanks for the review.

Don't forget their Total Price Guarantee. The base price may be more expensive than elsewhere, but Deepdiscountdvd.com does guarantee that your total purchase price, price + shipping, will be lower than anywhere else.

.... I'm hearing Deep Discount DVD's siren call...and you are not helping me resist. I can't believe you got Harry Potter so cheap and so early. (We paid about the same price at Sam's Club, but Don made sure to go first thing on the morning of the 28th so we would have it.)

Thanks for writing,
