A little while ago our family made a temporary move to the middle of nowhere in Utah. The closest video store was at least 45 minutes away. My husbands stepfather told us about this site and of course I looked into it.
What is Netflix?
Netflix is a DVD rental site. You go in to the website pick a few movies from there 11,500 movies. They drop it in the mail. You get it out of the mail, watch it, and then put it in the return envelope that is prepaid, and there you go.
How much does Netflix cost?
You pay 19.95$ a month. You can have up to three movies at a time. Of course there is no late fees. You can hold on to a movie as long as you want, just remember if you only send two back, you'll only get two more in the mail.
How does the website work?
I find it so easy surfing through this website. After you set up your account, you can start browsing the site for movies. If you know what you want to see just put it in a search. The movie pops up and you click on Rent. It goes into your account under Rental Queue. This is where all the movies you want to rent go. You can have as many movies here as you want. There is a area at the top of your screen that tells you how many movies you have there.
Rating Movies:
You can also rate the movies you see. Up to 5 stars for the best of the best. Under your Rental Queue is, You have rated this many movies. This is a nice feature because if it's a movie you've never seen at least you know what everyone else thought of it.
Is it worth the money?
It takes about 3 days to make it to you. My husband and I watch them over the weekend and mail them back on Monday. By the next weekend we have three more. That is about 15 movies a month. At a video store movies are about 3.00$ each to rent, if you rent 15 movies in a month that is 45.00$. So I would say it is very worth it.
What is the down side?
Here is my biggest problem. When we moved back to Las Vegas from Utah we started having a little problem. Two movies we rented never made it to us. I went into the area that tells you what has been sent out and when it is due to arrive at our place. (This usually takes about 3 days tops, from them to us and back to them.) Of course they were about a week late. I click into lost in mail. I was surprised to see they just sent out the next one on my list. I wrote the company about the movies being lost, I was afraid they might make me pay for them. They wrote back saying that I could contact my post office and have a search put of them. So I did.
No problems for a while and then, WHAM! We mailed back three movies at once, none of them make it to Netflix. That made it for a total of five movies lost in the mail just in the last 3 months. I let Nexflix know that they were lost in the mail and call the post office again. I told them we never had this problem before until we moved into this apartment complex. The post office gave me a case number and I e-mailed that to Netflix. I haven't heard anything from the post office or Netflix, but we are still getting movies. I'll update this when I do hear something.
Closing thoughts:
I have really enjoyed getting movies in the mail and not having to drive anywhere to get them back. My husband has this nasty habit of not getting movies back in time, and we could end up paying 20.00$ in late charges just on one movie!! Like I said we never had the losing movies in the mail, until we moved into this place, but Netflix seem to have that under control. (I hope!)
Thanks for reading!
