A long time ago I subscribed to Good Housekeeping® magazine. And I really enjoyed it. Recently I decided to subscribe to it again. And I am glad I did! You will see this magazine in doctor’s offices around the country. You will also find it people homes a lot! Whether it’s on their coffee table, nightstand or in the bathroom. It’s a popular magazine. And with good reason I think!
Good Housekeeping
When you look at this magazine you will always find a very attractive cover page. Most of the time Good Housekeeping® will have a woman of the world on the cover. And every once in a while they will have someone that no one knows about. And sometimes they will have a Man of the world there too!
You will always find the highlights of the current issue on the front cover as well. And it is always done in beautiful colors.
They always have their regular articles on Consumer Sense, People, Fiction, Fashion and Beauty, Relationships, The Better way, Food and Home, Departments and Columns. Form cover to cover the magazine is about 200 pages, give or take a few each month.
Under each of the above sectional titles you will find various articles that apply to that title. For instance, you will find under Department and Columns each month “On My Mind”, which is the Editors choice. “On Your Mind”, which are letters from the readers. “Heads Up”, which will inform you on style, trends and more.
You will also find “Real Deals”, which is a helpful section on bargains. “The Household Help line”, which is always by “Heloise” is where you can find helpful household tips. Then there is the “Talk To Me”, where you can read how “Joy Behar” will try to solve your problems. You ask a question and she will answer or find an answer for you.
And of course the “Your Health” where you will find information about current health issues and advice that may help you out. and “Light Housekeeping” where you will find humor.
The pages are always colorful and the articles are always interesting. Of course some of the articles I am not interested in while others I read more than once. I suppose that is how it is with all of us. Then again, there are people that will find each and every single article interesting. And also, while waiting at that doctor’s office, it is a good read.
The recipes that you can find throughout the magazine sound rather scrumptious. Well most of them do. This months “July” has a section all about Barbeque around the world. Now with the 4th of July coming up, these will come in handy for some of us. And looking at the pictures of this food, will make your mouth water!
I love looking at the flowers that are always talked about. Flowers are just pretty anyway and seeing how other people display theirs is helpful to me. I can always take their ideas into my own home or yard.
And sometimes you get to see inside a “Stars” home and find out information about that person. I like this as well. I always find homes of others interesting.
Good Housekeeping Seal
Good Housekeeping maintains good taste and exercises strict editorial judgment as to products it will accept for advertising and in reviewing all of the advertising copy it publishers. These judgments are the basis of the Good Housekeeping Consumers Refund or Replacement Policy.
This is a great policy from them. And also, if any of product that bears their Seal or Advertisement proves to be defective within two years from the date you first got it, they will replace the product or refund your money. (Please note that not all items apply to this warranty) This warranty is good even if the item was a gift. You can find out more about this warranty under the “Consumer Sense” section titled “GY Seal and Institute Report”. Now I don’t know about you, but I think this is a great warranty. And it helps me to like this magazine even more.
There are restrictions to this warranty so be sure you read that part clearly. And you can also find the address on where to send a product back.
Other Information
Under the “Beauty” section I learned a lot about skin no no’s. There is also in this months issue a section that will advice women about their hormones. This is very important information. I don’t have that problem much any more, had all the parts removed, but I do know the importance of taking my estrogen and what will happen if I don’t!
Also this month under “Peggy’s Post” I learned some perfect present information. She called it a “Perfect Present Cheat Sheet”. What’s this you say? Well it was a very informative article! Now the biggest thing for any shower, wedding or birthday party is not to go empty handed or send your gift early. That is common knowledge.
Now what is tacky is for the bride and groom to let people know much “money” is in the card they just opened. Please, that is personal and no bride and groom should be so inconsiderate of the other guest. What if Uncle Bob gave you a thousand, while Uncle Billy Bob only gave you a hundred. How rude in deed! That was common knowledge also. Actually most of the things written here were common knowledge stuff. But very good reminders.
I like reading the real life stories. They are always touching to the soul and will sometimes make you laugh and/or cry. And sometimes you get really into the story and can get a real sense of what that person might have gone through.
How I feel
Like I stated earlier, I love this magazine. I find it to be very informative and it certainly suits my needs. I like being able to find out about the latest health issues, the latest exercising programs. And I love finding out about other people.
I have gotten some very good tips over time with Good Housekeeping® magazine and I just love it. There has been washing tips, stain tips, carpet tips and more. My daughter can read it from cover to cover and I don’t worry that she will find something she doesn’t need to know about! And sometimes she and I will talk about an article or some type of decorating idea. See, it’s a magazine that brings family together for quality time.
And I like being able to find out information about Consumer issues. This is always important to me. And the Heloise section is always great. And the recall information is always helpful to me. Sometime I may actually have one of those items that are being recalled. You may too! So read them carefully.
I like being able to find out about flowers and how to grow them and take care of them. I like the pictures, they are always so colorful and vibrant! This is just a great magazine and the cost is less than most on the market. I got a years subscription for less than $10.00 through “Publishers Clearing House”. So I saved some over the newsstand prices. Which is good.
Sometimes they will have information about painting and decorating your home, and I always love to read about these. They are always helpful.
I could talk all day about this magazine, but I won’t for there is not that much space on the site! However, I will tell you this. Pick you up a copy and see for yourself the wonderful magazine that Good Housekeeping® is.
