| bperreault's Full Review: Puzz 3D CD: Notre Dame Cathedral |
So, you can’t afford the trip to Paris to explore the Notre Dame Cathedral? Solution? Build your own masterpiece. Wrebbit has created the ultimate challenge for jigsaw puzzlers, a computer version 3D puzzle.
The puzzle starts with a tutorial that shows how to manipulate the pieces. There are 4 different levels of difficulty working in either 2D or 3D assembling towers, windows, and the roof. The number of pieces is from 138 to 919. Along the way there are video clips giving you a history of the cathedral and guides to assembling sections. As you assemble a section, it is moved to a tray to be moved to the construction site, which can be rotated to various angles. Pieces came be viewed at 3 levels of magnification and can be sorted in trays. A line graph charts your progress. Another feature allows you to view the entire table of pieces.
When you have completed the construction each level, you can explore the cathedral viewing many parts such as the beautiful stained glass rose window and the catacombs. As you travel you gather clues to free Esmeralda. Along the way spirits that haunt the cathedral visit adding to your knowledge of the cathedral’s history.
This was given to me as a gift from my sister. Both of us are avid puzzlers. I sang the puzzle’s praises but she felt she didn’t have the patience for it. One day she tried it. Now she has done 2 other Wrebbit CD puzzles.
Wrebbit is a Canadian company that offers 4 other CD puzzles: Victorian Mansion, Orient Express, Bavarian Castle, and Thomas Kinkade’s Lamplighter Manor. Its web site is www.wrebbit.com. They cost about $25 but you can get them for less on Ebay with a little luck.
