| cntaur5's Full Review: Wahl AC Trimmer |
I recently purchased the AC TRIMMER Precision Corded Trimmer to assist with keeping my old fashion Miami Vice shadow beard trimmed. Okay, perhaps Miami Vice is a bit dated but the AC Trimmer is not. Self-trimming my beard not only saves me lots of money but with ownership it allows me the opportunity to keep my face neat and tidy daily. The AC Trimmer blades are precision-hardened, with ground and lapped cutting teeth giving me the precise neat clean trim my new bride appreciates.
The AC Trimmer looks exactly like the picture posted above, it can be held with ease in the palm of the hand making it easy to hold and handle, just plug in the eight-foot cord, push the switch on the side to the on position, then start cutting and trimming. There is also a black circular button on the side, which adjusts the blades; I recommend using a plastic flathead screwdriver to adjust the blades. Regular metal flathead screwdrivers usually mark up the plastic making which will make the button look the top of a chewed up ink pen.
Once the AC Trimmer is on you’ll immediately hear the invariable buzzing sound of the blades as it prunes your facial hair like a miniature bonsai tree. In a weird way a well-groomed beard is much like the potted dwarfed bonsai tree since both have to be trained and shaped. Don’t worry about the buzzing blades the reverberation is tolerable.
If you're going to trim your beard or mustache without assistance, you'll need the right tool to do it and I personally prefer the AC Trimmer. Since the AC Trimmer is corded I never have to worry about recharging it plus my Barber uses plug in clippers, so why shouldn’t I go for that professional look and feel?
The AC Trimmer not only works well on beards, but it’s great for lining your mustache, head and other areas of your body where hair grows.
I recommend that you handle the blades carefully, try not to drop the AC Trimmer since this can cause the blade to become loose, ajar or damaged. If you do drop them, it’s fairly easy to realign the blade with your hand.
The sleek black AC Trimmer also comes with 3 additional items, which include the red clipper blade guard, a small bottle of Whal Clipper oil, and a tiny clipper blade brush.
One of the many wonderful things about the AC Trimmer is that minimal maintenance is required; naturally you’ll clean the AC Trimmer after each use getting all of the hair out of the blades with the blade brush.
Obviously you will occasionally or once a month oil the blades with the Wahl Clipper oil. But for best results, I recommend putting one or two drops of Wahl Clipper Oil on the blades and this usually does the trick, lubricating the blades adequately.
Make sure you don’t over do it with the Wahl Clipper Oil since slippery blades don’t cut well. Plus, excessive oiling will cause damage if allowed to seep back into motor. So it’s important to wipe off excess oil with a soft cloth when you’ve finished oiling the blades. I don’t recommend cleaning the blades with paper products, for example toilet tissue tends to break up and fall apart and paper towels also shred. You don’t have to worry about taking the AC Clippers apart and oiling the motor bearings since they are permanently lubricated.
The only negatives with the AC Trimmer are that there are no tapering attachments or any extra accessories like a barber comb, styling comb, shears, cape, or illustrated instructions. Although I trim my face free hand, and consider myself an expert when it comes to trimming my beard, I’m in no way bashing those who use and rely on a comb to assist with trimming and aligning their bristly appendages.
The AC Trimmer like most trimmers does not come with a mirror, however a mirror is indispensable! Have you ever gone to a Barber or Hair Stylist who did not have a mirror in their shop?
Some consumers prefer a cordless trimmer because they believe the cord can be cumbersome and annoying, however with the AC Trimmer the cord is not a problem as long as you keep it untwisted and unobstructed. Honestly, there are a lot of clippers and shavers on the market that you can use to maintain a well-groomed beard, but I’m recommending the AC Trimmer based upon my own personal success.
Finding a beard and mustache trimmer with a cord at my local discount stores was a nightmare; I searched for months, and was in the process of ordering the AC Trimmer online. Thank goodness a friend recommended that I check out Sally’s Beauty Supply Store.
I bought my AC Trimmer on sale for only $29.99, which is a little lower than the online price for $35.00, at Sally’s Beauty Supply they usually retail for $52.99.
If you would like additional information on the AC TRIMMER PRECISION CORDED TRIMMER or if you’ve had them long enough where your blades have become damaged or dull, you may purchase a new blade assembly by writing the manufacturer WAHL CLIPPER CORPORATION, 2900 Locust Street, Sterling, IL 61081 USA. Or you can get information on line at http://www.wahl.com
In my opinion, there is no ultimate tool for the beard or mustache, I currently, use razors, clippers, a cordless trimmer, and I go to my Barber when time permits, however the AC TRIMMER PRECISION CORDED TRIMMER is one of those niceties of life that you simply don’t want to do without.
