The Bottom Line This is part of the Presidential Candidate write-off sponsored by systemdwn. I don't rate committed or potential political candidates lightly, thus, I hope this may be useful to the reader.
With the election of 2000 now behind us, and with the president-elect being inaugurated on the 20th, some may have a wish for another person for President, perhaps even a celebrity of some kind, whether from music or motion pictures, etc. In this vein, [and of course, because this is part of the Presidential Candidate write-off] I move for the nomination of Clint Eastwood for President. Many may wonder how I have made this conclusion, though after reading this, you may even agree with the idea. Mr. Eastwood has been an actor since the late 1950's. He has worked his way up from bit parts in movies, to a television series {Rawhide} to internationally known star all by his own efforts. This country needs someone who knows the value of hard work. With this, business acumen is useful. Mr. Eastwood has been the major force [and owner] behind Malpaso Productions. This company has released many mostly quality movies over the years, including such hits as the Dead Pool and Absolute Power. Business experience is always a useful and welcome ability when running a government, as arguably. government can be called a business. In the field of prior political experience, he was the Mayor of Carmel California in the 1990's. He ran for this office due to seeing a need for common sense solutions to the zoning situation which existed there at the time. This country needs leaders who can think on their feet and for themselves. I have heard him speak on issues of interest in the past and he seemingly has a no-nonsense view of some of the problems which face this country. Oftentimes, I have found his candor to be extremely refreshing. Additionally, he would be a political party's dream candidate, as the electorate would not be asking "CLINT WHO?" His name and face recognition is nearly universal in this country. On this level, it can also be said the camera likes him. If one has to listen to a political speech, I would rather listen to him than either of the 2 candidates who ran in the last election. Thus, I wish he would run for this position, as I would not only vote for him personally, I would also work on his campaign, something I have never done for any other Presidential candidate. This is how highly I respect this man both for his body of work as an actor and as a fellow human being. Thank you for reading this |
