My first experience with a Dell

Cons: Beware of external drive bay, no s video output
The Bottom Line: I would not recommend it. I think it is highly over priced for what you get. Also I have never seen such poor customer service.

I recently called Dell to purchase a Laptop. I have to use dell as it is our company standard (maybe not for much longer). To begin I waited over four hours on the phone to purchase this laptop. I received the laptop 3 weeks later, complete with docking station, carry case and CDRW/DVD drive. I was first quite disapointed with the external CDRW/DVD drive. I find it cumbersome and really just another thing to have to carry around. I was looking forward to also using the DVD player to watch movies on my tv. Apparently according to dell customer support this is not possible without me purchasing a new PC card with s video jacks. I mean I just spent almost 4 Grand (USD)on this machine equipped with a DVD player. I assumed it would be included. I have seen other comparable brands of laptops such as HP and Compaq with all the bells and whistles for much less money. So I called the "Spare Parts" department out of curiosity to see how much it would now cost me to get a new PC card. I waited for over an hour on hold before hanging up. Please think twice before purchasing this machine and if you decide to make sure before it arrives it has every single little plug, adapter and drive you need.
