The Bottom Line Know your specs, Choose a plugin, install, kick back and enjoy with a cold one (soda, that is.)
When you decide you need a plugin for WinAMP, the first thing you should take note of is your system's specifications. Example: AMD Duron, 700MHz processor NVidia 8MB TNT2/Vanta video card 64 MB of RAM WinME That's what you should remember. Next, decide what type of plugin you want. Do you want a new Input plugin like the Alpha-II SPC player so you can use WinAMP to play SPCs? Or did you want a new Output plugin to crossfade the output of your MP3s to get rid of gaps? Maybe you found an urge to get the G-Force Visualization plugin so you can have something to watch? Those are the types of questions you should ask yourself. Let's assume you went for the visualization section and wanted a good plugin. In Visualization, you have another question to ask yourself. FullScreen, Windowed, or 3d? that one is answered by that data i asked you to collect at the beginning. Low end processors (sub-350 MHz) don't render full screen visuals very fast without lots of RAM and a good video card. Forget about 3d without the RAM and card, too. Average speed processors (350 to 700 MHz) can handle all the visualizations, pending on the amount of RAM. High end processors (701 MHz +) can just about handle it all! :D from there, you can dig through WinAMP's visualization plugins until you find one that interests you. just click and download :) run the installer and then run WinAMP and press Control+P to open Preferences. Click Plugins - Visualization (or whatever type you downloaded AND installed) and select your plugin. click configure, set it up, and then start it. :) Enjoy the plugin :) |
