I am a PDA vetran, starting with my Palm IIIe and working my way up to the Handspring Prism, one thing I always wished for was mobile storage, say take a disk (using old computer ideas) and put my favorite documents or eBooks on the PDA. With the jump from IIIe to Prism I did recive 6mb more quickly, but that 6mb went just as quickly.
Well this past birthday I took my b-day cash and purchased a Memplug SM, and 32mb SM card. I now have 96mb of cards and each has a collection of programs or books to have with me on trips etc.
One note if you are considering this product look into Laucher III from Benc Software (http://www.benc.hr/lnchiii.htm) it helps a to no matter what MemPlug version you purchsed, it allows you to store applications on your MemPlug and run them in an essence giving you an additional 32mb of storage.
Another good place to visit after purchase is LaunchPlug(http://www.launchplug.com/) it will help you install applications to your cards. It is very handy.
Now I know I havent given much in the realm of 'why' the Memplug is a good resource to have, just note these key features:
- Backup on the road. Save your entire PDA to a flash card.
- Low Memory usage on SM cards. (Battery Usage varies perl MemPlug style)
- Extra Applications. No need to swap programs to and fro, just start it up and you have applications at your finger tips.
- If you have a Card Reader great for putting your pictures on to show friends.
I can't live without mine now, the 100+ extra applications I now carry with me are invaluable for Business and Pleasure ;)
Check it out its affordible and a great add-on to have!
