Hardware Concern

Written: Sep 24 '03
Pros:Light, portable, e-book files can be quickly downloaded
Cons:Limited e-books, latest books not readily available, no stand alone backtabs.
The Bottom Line: I love the REB100. It's light, has good battery life and interfaces with my XP PC. If you look around you can find one for well under $200.

I purchased the REB1100 a few months ago and am very pleased with the unit. I have about 15 books stored on the unit and it has space for more. I would recommend the purchase of the 64K memory chip which brings the total memory to 73728K. That will indeed hold quite a library of books. I can read with the backlight without disturbing my partner.

The books are downloaded quickly over the telephone lines or directly to your computer with the included libriarian software. There is also a USB cable for interfacing with your PC. Once you have finished a book you can leave it on the device or keep archived copies on your PC.

I do wish there there were more e-book titles available and the prices were lower. Afterall, there is no printing costs involved.

If you like to read and can spare about $200, buy the REB1100.

Happy reading...
