Why Does This Place Get Such a Bad Rap???

Written: Jan 20 '01 (Updated Jan 20 '01)
Pros:Clean (Tower Rooms), Great Location, Decent Room Amenities, Cheap Table Minimums, Fun Young Crowd
Cons:Stay Away From the Restaurant!!! It's only a Holiday Inn!
The Bottom Line: If you don't mind staying at a Holiday Inn this is the perfect choice for the budget traveler, or someone who realizes that a hotel room is just for sleeping!

Before traveling to Las Vegas to stay at the Holiday Inn Boardwalk Casino, I came here to read what some other people had to say about this hotel. To be honest with you, I was scared to death and was thinking about canceling my reservation. I stayed here because it was a last minute reservation and on a busy weekend, the price was right. Plus, I normally trust Holiday Inns and stay at the frequently for business.

Upon check-inn I was greeted promptly, and was quickly given keys to my room. One thing I want to say here. No matter how much extra it may cost you, or how many people you have to threaten, make sure you get a room in the main tower. After driving around back to check out the garden style rooms, I wouldn't recommend these rooms to the Manson Family. They are dark, unsafe looking, and from what I have read, dirty. On the contrast, upon entering my tower room, (it is freaky how this hotel is so much a Holiday Inn), I was surprised to find a clean room, with a big comfy king bed. The room had a number of TV channels, Pay movies, hair dryer, iron, and everything else you'd expect from a Holiday Inn.

To be honest, the only bad thing about this hotel is the restaurant. Stay away from the 24-Surf Buffet and all costs. Unless of course you like retching on the blackjack table, which one of my friends did!!!!

All in all, you pay for what you get. For $30-80 a night, this is not a bad hotel. The location can't be beat, and you get a clean comfortable room. I would stay there again, expect I fell in love with the rooms at the MGM Grand, so I might try one of those out next time!!!!
