Pros:Speed, reliability, extra software programs, Did I mention Speed?
Cons:None so far.
The Bottom Line: Out of the 3 CDRW drives I have owned and used, the TDK is by far the best and easiest to use.
I just bought the TDK CDRW121032 earlier today. I know it may seem kind of soon to write an epinion on it but it has already out done the other two that we have owned.
When we bought our pc it came with a Sony CDRW CRX100E which I believe is at a rated speed of 4xWrite/2xReWrite/24xRead. It wasn't bad for a beginner and we never really had a problem with it. It was just getting to the point where we were looking for something a little faster.
Well three days ago I went to local store and thought that if I was going to spend the money on something new I might as well get the best that they have. So I bought the Yamaha CDRW CRW2100EZ which is a 16xWrite/10xReWrite/40xRead/40xRip speed. It was definitely the fastest that I have heard of and thought that it would be worth the $250. I installed it that same night and had nothing but problems with it. I even talked to Yamaha Customer Support and did what they suggested, but to no avail.
Today I decided to take it back to the store and exchange it for something else. That's when I opted for the TDK CDRW. I had seen it advertised in a few magazines before but didn't think much of it at the time, but today I came into Epinions to check the reviews on it to see if it was worth it or not. From what I saw it seemed to be pretty good for the money.
When I brought it home the first thing I did was to install it which was really simple to do. They give install instructions in a poster form where you unfold it and just follow along. The whole installation only took about 10 minutes to do. After I started the pc up again and made the few adjustments that the instructions stated that needed to be done. Everything was up and running A-OK!
In the few hours that it has been installed in our system I have already made a custom music cd, backed up some system information, and "ripped" a few of our own cd's so that we could make some more custom cd's later on. Best of all was that we did all of this and had no errors or problems at all.
Some of the extra software that comes with the TDK CDRW is listed below:
1) TDK Digital MixMaster
2) Ahead Nero 5
3) InCD Packet Writing
4) Adobe ActiveShare
5) Adobe Acrobat Reader
6) Windows Media Player
7) Search by Media
8) MusicMatch Jukebox
9) Clone CD
