I guess I missed something... (Reply to this comment)

But it is interesting to see the way things used to be. I guess this site used to pay Amigo money before the internet bust.

The site seems pretty good now, anyway. I'm here and so are people from 1999 who were too lazy to give up, I guess.

Nice information...

I finally caught up to your Epinion. I'm glad they put the comments back in, but most of my friends and acquaintances now have to bookmark my homepage, which has a link to Epinions to catch up with my latest stuff. I e-mailed the homepage to them, since I can no longer e-mail them individual articles. Nobody even gets opinion comment e-mails from the site anymore. Personal business and situations have kept me away from Epinions as much as the site changes, but Epinions is a much sadder place these days. So much of the joy of creation seems to be gone. I hope Epinions realizes the errors of their ways before we all log off for good. Great points.
Sincerely, Pat

Here's my penny's worth . . . (Reply to this comment)

Kelly, you certainly put heart and soul into this. I must admit I felt pretty angry at Epinions when it first opened sans comments. Praise be, they're back now. But it was a very frustrating time.

You hit the nail on the thumb by saying "Kill the Comments, Kill the Community."

Long live Comments!

Thanks for the passion,

Judy

what do they pay 3 cents a hit for besides gourmet items? for COMMENTS? Sorry, I'm a bit of a newbie. Other than being confused by that "PRO-item," I thought the rest of your opinion was on target.

A wonderful review -- your creativity continues to inspire me whenever I feel like I'm falling into an epinions slump. More power to you. More power to the comments feature. Keep flexing those boundaries!

So glad the comments are back! (Reply to this comment)

I'm still getting used to this new thing. I think I will miss the way things were, but as long as they keep paying me, I'll still be here. It is so hard to be a stay at home mom with no income!

If too many good writers leave the quality of the site will go down.

This is the 2nd of your reviews I've read and I'm off to read some more. I loved your write-off idea and contribution, as well as many of those of others....I'm sure you'll be on my WOT soon, I just feel icky if I don't read at least a handful of someone's posts before I add you.

Thanks for writing this one. I hope (for all our sakes) it will be obsolete before too long.

(I guess I have to post a multiple comments. How lame!) (Reply to this comment)

(I was one of the ones that thought Epinions was bailin' out, so don't get me wrong.) The second thing is that the more time I spend here the more I am getting used to things. I still don't like it as much, but maybe I'll be okay. (This is REALLY dumb...and not that great of a comment to be worthy of 3!!!!)

Don't you hate change for the sake of change? (Reply to this comment)

Enjoyed your post because you're so right. And I don't like having to adjust either. But I do have to say 2 things. (Well, I guess I don't have, to, but....) The first is that I somehow felt better when I read the transcript of the chat from last Wed. (It's posted in the member center.) I hope I'm not being naive, but I think things are going to be better soon. (continued)

old school vs. new (Reply to this comment)
by seric26
Kelly, I know just how you feel about being oblivious to the "real old days" when people made so much more money on this site. I have been happy with my pennies, because they're all I knew. Got to look into that copyright stuff some more. I am a writer, and while I don't sell what I write here anywhere else or vice versa (my professional work is in a category not covered by epinions), I only like the "on-line use for one year" concept.

part 2... (Reply to this comment)
by herjazz
(see what i mean? i can't have comments that "contain too many words"). so here i am, posting TWO comments!)

my biggest beef is all the restrictions they put on the site. like word limits in certain fields that didn't have limits before. ugh. and oh yeah, them trying to be make us be saintly and not use words like fark (i liked your variation of the word-- never seen it before), a-r-s-e (yes, that's considered obscene, as well as a-s-s), beatch and the like... :)

i'm still in post-traumatic shock mode, so i haven't written a thing...

i guess comments are back... (Reply to this comment)
by herjazz
but it might disappear in a few months, who knows?? anyway, this change in general is pretty disorienting for me. and it forces you to write your epinions a bit differently (notice how pros/cons fields now carry a lot of weight (shows up in listing) and reviews NOT recommending a product/service gets more views because it'll show up in its own column in the listing).

Re: Are My Eyes Deceiving Me?! (Reply to this comment)
by kellydeal
what the heck are the new comment rules? make sure it's courteous? considertae? heck, MY comments section was cooler 'cause I asked you all to tell me I was full of it.

I saw the comments go up last night before I went to bed, then they went back down again, now they are up.

But last night it said I had 2 comments here - but got an error when I was trying to read them. I was hoping it was the Epinions staff telling me to bugger off.

Kelly-

Testing--1--2--3--Testing.

I do believe we have our comments back! Epinion's must not have liked you running your own comment section so caved in to the pressure! ...Mark
