| tjtoolmanz's Full Review: Lexmark Color JetPrinter Z82 InkJet Printer |
I have been using inkjet printer and such for quite a while now, and have run into most of the major brands. They all seem to have pluses and minuses.
I have been using Lexmark for the past 4 years starting with a Z31, then moving to a Z43 and recently to the X83.
I have heard people complaing about the price of cartridges, etc. but all in all when it comes down to it if you want color your going to pay!
We have a color laser at work and when you have to replace all of the colors and the drum you are looking at $760.
I could whine all day about that but when it comes to quality, speed and image the laser is awesome, and we also get quite a few prints off of it.
Inkjet technology has come a long way in the out put, but the cartridges are still going to be on the pricey side. I originally had an epson that I bought for thet reasoning that the cartridges were way cheaper, and I could pick them up at the grocery store (Generic).
Well this was great for about 6 months, then I started to use the printer less, cartridges were actually drying up (not just getting clogged, part of the problem with the inktank theory) and then eventually the printhead was so messed up that I had to take things apart to clean it properly. Every try rplacing a printhead on an epson, not a lot of fun....
My brother has a Canon, and has the same problems.
I friend at work got a xerox and I though that that might be the cat's butt so to speak, you can replace (Yourself and easily) most of the major components.
But there is still cost's involved. he goes through ink twice as fast as I do, but his replace ment cost's are about half. But then he replace the print head assembly, and with the Lexmark or HP you do that with every cartridge, so there was a cost I don't have to worry about. And the quality form the model of Lexmark I have is far superior, as well as the speed.
HP Cartridges are a little less in price than the lexmark ones (for the most Part) but thier printers are usually considerably higher priced for the same thing.
I have been really happy with all of the Lexmark Units I have purchased, and can not foresee me going to another brand.
This particular unit does evertything as advertised, and does them all very well. You will not be disappointed!
If the price of ink scares you look into remanufactured cartridges, I have used them with great success, and they are less than half the price as retail.
Works Great with Windows XP Pro!!!!
Godd Luck!
