TeleType Needs Improvements

Pros: Use on pocketPC or laptop. Terrain and streets included.
Cons: program gliches, routing via waypoints not accurate, Install tricky, manuals mininimal
The Bottom Line: Purchase the Navman for reliability and better performance as I tested it for two weeks before sending it back. Navman is much better stuff for vehicle routing in US.

Relevant History First:
In April 2002 I purchased a Navman bundle for my iPaq 3650 with 256M card for use within Europe during my next trip. Found out that the antennas were specific to software bundles and would not work with other software programs using Navman receiver. Bummer! So I bought the Teletype bundle for USA & Europe. As reviews had it packed with features that the others would not do themselves such as terrain as well as streets, voice navigation, re-route on the fly etc. Wow, I thought if this was true. Well I had problems from the get go install was not very smooth problems with software finding maps installed. Also routing along a route you specify via waypoints is not accurate. You would do this because you did not want to drive East 50 miles out of your way to use another highway, as this was how their route had picked to go. You would want to use the nearest highway to your starting location, right? The routing settings do not seem to matter what you check as I unchecked all and re routed only to get the same original route. Also while in Holland I was driving and nearly got lost, thanks to my trusty map, as the direction arrow completely disappeared from view. Where am I thought? Lucky, I had a co-pilot who found out that the software had placed the cursor on down out of the currently routed viewing area. Sometimes it was not even near the drawn route, which also disappeared. Several times the software locked up having to use the system reset button a must. Overall if I had been back in time to return this product with in the 30 days I would have.
