Pros:easy to remember e-mail, offers POP server
Cons:System DOWN ALL THE TIME, rejects e-mail addresses, slow slow slow
The Bottom Line: Do not use iname!
The system seems to be down at least once a month for extended periods - it has been down for the last two days, and finally I was able to connect, only to find I am unable to actually download my mail. The web based mail is featureless, tech support is terrible, and the POP server (when it is up) often rejects e-mail addresses that it has accepted before.
The system does not allow you to read messages through the web interface and leave them on the server to be downloaded later - I like to read mail at work through the web (firewall doesn't permit smtp through), then log into the POP server (I pay $3.95 a month for the use of the POP server)later and download the messages using outlook express. I have asked about this frequently, but have never received a response.
Tech support is not very knowledgeable and does not follow up on questions. It is often pointless to go through the formality of asking them about a problem - the problems are often intermittent, so before tech support actually knows what you are talking about, the problem changes.
If you use mail.com to forward your mail to another address, the attachments get stripped, or the mail gets sent back to the sender. That was the reason I went with the POP option, although it isn't much better.
I love the fact that my address is so simple, but I wish they would get their act together and build a system that works!!! I don't want to have to change addresses, but iname service and product sucks.
