| brownlys's Full Review: Nokia 3310 GSM Cellular Phone |
The Nokia 3310 has just appeared over here in Britain, and is beautiful for the gap in the market between the basic 3210 and the button sized more expensive Nokia options.
The outside first...it's a decent weight and size, small enough to pit in your pocket more than a 3210, but heavy and big enough that you don't lose the damn thing without realising it! Supposedly you can change the covers, like the 3210, but here in the uk, as it is new there aren't that many to choose from, but for the fashion conscious among you that option is there.
I must say that the back cover is a pain to get off I've found many times, takes me about 10mins of trying to get it off...must be a knack to it!
Otherwise basically, it's a traditional nokia button arrangement with no flippy bits of aerial to knock off...a very compact specimen.
the screen is a typical large Nokia screen though not the largest you can get. Available on the screen are screensavers, different appropriate pictures appear on the phone according to what mode you have it on, which is kinda cute.
There is a wide repetoire of ring tones, some new! It's nice to have a ring that you know immediately is yours... There is plenty of space for your own creations too... and you can assign tones so you don't even need to open your eyes to know who it is...how lazy can we be!!!?
well.... there;s also voice activating dialling, and 4 games, all new too! Hours of fun.
Only prob I have is that the battery time is not so good... find myself recharging it every few days...but maybe I expect too much, or play too many games :o) beware!
All the old Nokia functions are here... call divert, large phone book, space for 18 txt messages with predictive text.
The chat function is a big waste of time, but don't let that put you off. It only works between another 3310 phone and costs one txt per message! WHy bother?!
What else..? Has a pretty excitable vibrating alert, just see that phone travel the table top!
Also a reminder option which is VERY handy.
Overall this is a PHONE. Unlike the 7110 which is an internet accessing handheld data pad brick, this is first and foremost for talking into. It has some fun features too, setting it above the earlier more basic models and I would reccommend it to anyone who wants a classy phone that doesn't go over the top.
