I have been a big fan of the Lowe's Home Improvement store ever since I was first introduced to one 2 years ago when I moved to Florida. Before Lowe's, I was happily addicted to Home Depot, but I then found Lowe's to be more friendly and helpful towards their customers. I also never have a problem finding what I need at Lowe's. My husband has tried like heck to keep me out of Lowe's, and I let him think he's doing a good job of it, because he doesn't realize that I have Lowes.com to give in to my addition.
I first found Lowes.com while looking for ideas on closet organizers. I did not want to waste the trip 1 mile up the road to Lowe's looking for closet organizers, because I know I would have came home with more projects and more stuff that was not relevant to my closet organizer that I originally went out looking for. (C'mon now, some of us do get side-tracked there)

The site is very user friendly. You do not need to register to look around or even to buy items. However, when you first enter the site, you are asked for your zip code, the reason being is so that it will display the closest store to you on the screen while shopping. When you make a purchase though before registering, you will be prompted to enter a password and a login ID for the site. This is so that you can track your order, and let the site keep track of your local store items on the next visit.
When you first arrive at lowes.com you are greeted with quite a few selections. You can choose directions for one of their daily home projects, you can choose to shop, you can look up user guides, find a store near you, look up the latest sales ad, you can use the project calculator, the how-to library, and all of the other mumbo jumbo like press releases, job opportunities, and company information.
What can you shop for?
At Lowes.com you can shop for anything from dishwashers, dryers, tarps, garage doors, and even gift cards. Pretty much everything that the brick & mortar has, lowes.com has.
Some of the different categories to choose from are appliances, books, cabinets, cleaning supplies, doors & windows, clearance, cleaning supplies, flooring, hardware, lumber, electrical, and the list goes on.
If you aren't sure where to look, they have a search feature available that searches the site.
My Experience with Lowes.com
As I said earlier, I went to lowes.com looking for closet organizer ideas and a rough idea on how much they cost. Finding what I wanted was a cinch, since one of their categories was home organization, and closet organization was right under neath it as one of the sub-categories.
From there I was able to see pictures. measurements and descriptions of various organizers. This was essential to me since I have odd shaped closets and I liked being able to measure my closet after looking at a organizer I may like. Having a visual of the organizer also helped. Had I first went to Lowe's, I would have forgotten how the organizer looked when I came home to get an idea.
Deciding on your purchase
When you decide you what you are going to buy, simply click on the buy now option, and you can then proceed to your check-out or you can go about shopping adding things to your shopping cart. When you decide to check out, you have the option of having the store deliver the item to you, or you can have it delivered to your closest store and then you go pick it up from there. I first tried to have the organizer delivered to me, but for $55.00 delivery charge, it was better for me to trek up the street to Lowe's and pick it up. So I had it delivered to my local Lowe's. You purchase the whole item online with a credit card and when you go to Lowe's you just need to get with customer pick-up and you will be set to go.
The site will send you a confirmation email telling you when your item will be available for pick up.
If you decide to have it delivered to your home, they allow a space for you to give exact directions for delivery, for instance, leave the item on the back deck, leave it next door, etc.
Pricing
I have found the prices at lowes.com to be the same as the local Lowe's. Lowes.com also has a clearance section, and also honors the weekly sale ads. So you do not have to worry about paying more for shopping at lowes.com than you would at the brick & mortar.
I highly recommend shopping at lowes.com for all of your home improvement needs. With the large selection available at the site, husbands everywhere would be so much happier not being dragged to Lowe's and having to shop hours & hours while the wives keep shopping looking for more "stuff."
