Very Cool "tinkerer" gadget

Pros: 45 second movies - 45 second movies
Cons: no sound :-(
The Bottom Line: For pictures FORGET IT - but to tinker especially in rockes a MUST BUY !! Go get it now !!

Another ROCKET CAMERA !! yeah !!!
This camear is a truly amazing peice of digital wizardry
After gutting the casing etc.. what I had left fits inside of a 24mm tube and is less than 2 inches long (it really is small IE the battery compartment is bigger than the actual camera !!)
Break out the dremal for this one. Once you open it you will notice the screen is not going to stay in place and it is mandatory (to see the modes its in) so you can wrap it OR dremal out the screw holes/screen frame and screw it back in minus the rest of the case.
Now goto all electronics and get a 2 N cell holder. Now goto Rat Shack and get some N cells (there very cheap half size AAA's but the same voltage)
Why N cells ? cause there half the size and half the mass.
you will need 2 push stiches and 1 small switch or toggle.
The toggle because the shutter has to be held down to take movies.
Why all this work? first it is light enough to fly on C engines !!! thats $1 a flight.
and second it takes MOVIES !!! and 45 seconds worth !!
Now before you say but its only 160x120 or something like that. but its MOVIE IE being in motion your brain FILLS in the resolution gaps SURPRISINGLY effectively !!

Especially since now you can get them from aiptek for $70 for TWO of them !! thats $35 a pop !!
Now word of caution. it is a Real PAIN IN THE BUTT if your are like me IE not good at soldering. 2 of the connections if done improperly will easily trash the camera so take your time !! and if you don't want to fight for space use a larger than 24mm tube (say a 29mm or 38mm tube)
This camera is insanely fun to fly. I have flown it so many times that I eventually crashed it. the camear survived but my soldering did not. and since it all glued into the tube repair is not likely :-( I will just have to get more. and now that they are $70 a pair it is much more affordable than the $99 I paid when it first came out but even that was worth every penny.
You might be tempted to get the pen cam 2 but since it does video at 320x240 but not only is it shorter but they LIE on the packaging. it is NOT 20 seconds of video but only a hair more than 14 seconds. Not really enough for a rockets flight unless you like getting singed on takeoff :-)
I am working on getting a sound recorder onboard so I can later in the computer "sync" the sound and video but this is enough fun for now.
If you like rockets and tinkering GET THIS NOW !!! It would be neat for Other RC but you have the activation problem. IE the auto off timer is pretty short.
