Nice unit, but mine died after 3 years

The Bottom Line: Spend more money for a more durable unit.
The reason I'm here today is I am researching new units, because my Lawn Genie Rain Jet Electronic Sprinkler Timer RJ6A just died after just 3 years of use. It replaced an analog "Lawn Genie" that simply wore out I don't remember exactly how much I paid for it, so I'm estimating about $50.
If you're planning on living in your home more than a couple of years, I'd recommend spending more money on a more durable unit.
Unfortunately I spent an hour fiddling with the wiring at the valves before concluding that it was the timer itself that was bad.
Granted, mine may be an isolated case, but I expected more years out of this timer than I got.
