The Bottom Line Oh, I would suggest keeping paper books but incorporate audio books into your book life.
If you are inclined to lay in bed or on the couch for whatever reasons, listening to book tapes is a great way to go. My sister in law is how I came to really learn about them initially. She is a teacher and I always saw them in her home..taken out of the library. She said she listened to them in the car and they relaxed her. Well, I got the idea to take some out but did not feel inclined to listen to them in the car...but instead while taking a nap or at night before I go to sleep. Or if I am feeling down and want to lay down for a while. Any time I need a kind of pick me up. And they are good company too. If you get lonely like I tend to do, you feel like you have a friend around! I like books on tape. One drawback is sometimes the author's tone of voice can not be suitable to your taste or the speed at which they speak can be too fast. This is indeed irritating and you have no control over it. For me it is enough to not want to listen to a whole book. But with the right combination, it is a great form of therapy if you ask me. If you don't already know, the in thing in most cases is to have the actual person who wrote the book also do the recording of the tape as well! It is strange because some of the authors have no talent in this area but give it their best shot and do pull it off and others are really good at it and still others? Well... I hope you try it if you haven't. I think you may like it. You don't have to lay down like me. Maybe while you clean the house or drive. Whatever you like. Good luck!
