Pros: Sweet heavenly sounds! Plays EVERY media type(DVD,MP3,FIRE WIRE hookup, Aux RCA,) very Well.
Cons:Tad pricey, As expensive as it is, could include mounting hardware.
The Bottom Line: GREAT SYSTEM!! Plan to make sometime to set everything up correctly. You might get mounting brackets or stands for your installation. Once you get it setup- ENJOY!

One word when you get this all plugged in and setup - " Sweet!!" As our 10 year anniversary recently occurred, we opted for the Bose system as a mutual gift. We are not disappointed. We originally opted for a smaller system, It was nice, but just didn't do the trick. Honestly, we now believe it is Bose's conspiracy to get you hooked then reel you in. Regardless, it is has been a wonderful ride.

As for the system-

They send everything to you, 5 Speakers nicely packed, a setup CD, all Wiring, hook-up map as well as a manual with directions. They do make it as easy as I guess they can. I may be a simpleton, however, it took me a complete evening to set up the whole thing. After we set it up, it took a week for the stands and mountings to arrive. The provided installation MAP and manual are OK. Their CD will prove helpful in giving suggestions on how to set the system in your home. Honestly, it can be a bit overwhelming- but it is very do-able.

The actual System power house is a central pieced item that allows all to plug into it. [ note: silver item in picture above] Once you are done plugging in items, mark where wires go by color coding the different plugins. This will make set up in another location MUCH easier. It accommodates every type of CD and DVD. use the AUX. Plug to plug in your Tape deck or personal MP3 player.

The Remote is a bit difficult to work with. Actually unpredictable. I found it TOO sensitive when you lie it down, bump up against things, Etc. However, Its interface with my Toshiba TV is anything but sensitive. I have worn out an index finger trying to change channels. Oh well.

The five Speakers are the 'mini' ones; half the size of there 2&3/4" speaker. It is claimed that they are better speakers. I can say they are smaller, better? you're going to need an awfully good ear to discern that. The Sixth one it their base module. [ NOTE: large back item in above picture ]The info on the CD provided will teach you where it needs to be setup.

As for the less then great-

Because it is such a large purchase and so many components and no mounting items, you can feel flooded and over whelmed. There are a ton of wires also that can be frustrating. The problem is really that there is so much- you can do it, just put on your game face and be ready for a chore. OR, perhaps you can hire this done? I recommend you taking your time and doing it yourself. It will be a lasting pleasure.

Sound-

It truly is a music fan's dream. Name your favorite type of music - Bluegrass to Rap, Classical to Folk, Blues to Gregorian Chants- it simply is the best mid priced system. There are more expensive systems and speakers from different high end manufactures, however Bose has done a nice job of finding the best of all worlds - Great sound, in comparison to . . .-ok price, Marketing, size of systems. They have really hit a home run here. With this system's complete interface with EVERY MEDIA type, all you need it the correct connector. With a CD burner you can burn 150 to 170 MP3s on one Compact Disk, in the order you want, and you have hours of listening pleasure. This system will even allow you to operate different speaker sets in two different rooms of speakers. All this off of the remote control\ system.

Movies-

We are not real movie buffs, however this could change that. The clarity of the surround sound really adds so much to the flick. I just didn't know how much I was missing. Feeling the ground shake in your chest as you watch an avalanche. Or hearing weapons fire all around you... quite indescribable.

Overall-

I could go on and on, however I think the Epinion is clear. I had a little wrestle getting it set up in just the way I wanted. Now though - it at times feels -like a religious experience. My preference would be for Bose to have Stands and mounting brackets included. This would save a week of waiting for your mounting stuff to arrive and you having speaker wires all over the house.

Purchase-

I purchased my system on Ebay. I can not recommend this choice. With such an expensive item, you need to track the seller well and realize there are no returns. I had now worries and got the system $600.00 less then retail. If you have experience with E-bay and are a regular user- Godspeed. If you have reservations, find an outlet mall. They usually have them 10% discount.
