It Depends On What You The Consumer Want

The Bottom Line I think both are good, depending on your personal preferences. I still own a vcr and am happy with it.
I think both vcr's and dvd's are great. First of all, they give us, the consumer, a real choice.
The picture quality on a dvd is considered superior to the old standby vcr. However, I still own a vcr, and am perfectly happy with it. In fact, because of dvd's (I assume) most vcr's have dropped drastically in cost. You can get a new vcr for around $70.00 or even less these days.
However, I believe that dvd's are the way of the future. Much like music cd's replacing 8 tracks and cassettes. I'm not saying that vcr's will be non-existent. However, the only drawback is having to replace all your present movies on tape with dvd's.
I think the advantages to owning a dvd are worth the cost. As for myself, I am perfectly happy with my old vcr. I think it depends on what you are looking for and want in this particular product.
