Pros:Affordable for being so lightweight, easy to assemble
Cons:Hard plastic seating, storage for front wheel isn't so grand
The Bottom Line: This bike trailer is versatile; you can use it as a bike trailer and a jogging stroller and rest assured that it's safe :-)
I recently purchased one of these directly from Instep (so it was brand new), through a merchant on Ebay. I paid $135.00 total (shipping included), which was the best deal I could possibly find. It's definately worth it to check out Ebay if you're looking for one of these.
I was able to assemble the entire thing all by myself, without my husband's help, in about an hour. The assembly directions aren't great but they aren't bad either. If you have ZERO mechanical inclinations, then it'll be worth it to get someone who has to put it together for you :-)
While shopping for a bike trailer, I wanted one that I could also use as a jogging stroller. And I wanted it to be lightweight, easily portable and affordable. Most lightweight bike trailers are made of aluminum and they can get quite expensive. This particular bike trailer was the ONLY one I could find that had a stationary, removable front wheel (if you jog with your kids in a stroller, you have got to have a stationary front wheel otherwise you may go one way and the stroller and the kids another if you hit a rock!). It is also lightweight -- I think it weighs in at 25 lbs fully assembled, although I have found a discrepancy on this depending on what site I visit.
My husband and I just went out yesterday for a 8 mile bike ride with both kids in it -- total weight behind my bike (as I was the one pulling the trailer) was about 75 lbs. I hardly noticed it! (Except when going uphill -- wow!, that got tough).
The only thing I don't particularly like about the stroller is that the area where the kids sit is not padded, although you can purchase an insert for about $20 from Instep. Also, it's really not *that* portable -- if you have a car it'll probably take up all of your trunk space. The wheels remove easily but you can't break down the body of the trailer as it's hard plastic. We easily fit this bike trailer and our two bikes in the back of our Chevy Silverado 4x4 though :-)
Instep offered me some exceptional customer service as well. Like I said, I purchased this item off of Ebay but it was shipped directly to me from Instep (via Fed Ex so I got it in about 2 days!). The foam padding on the handle bar was torn when I got it so I called Instep and about 3 days later I got new padding.
