Pros: Unbelievable Price, Extremely quick, value per dollar spent is unparalleled
Cons: Can't buy one in a traditional brick and mortar store. Online ordering only.
The Bottom Line: Order a refurbished model to get the best value. This makes it a lot easier to swallow the news that your system is rendered obsolete by more powerful models.

| SAEGOOSE's Full Review: Dell Dimension XPS B1000 |
After spending a week testing my new Dell computer through the hairpin turns and rugged terrain of PC performance, I am blown away by this system's ability to smoothly negotiate every twist and slick acceleration through the straightaways.
I bought my computer online exactly on week ago. As a law school student I needed a system which would allow me to easily and efficiently research information, seamlessly transfer information across various file types, and crank out finished products in a flash. While a system that would accomodate my workload was a necessity, I also wanted a computer that would allow to utilize my "play time" in the most efficient manner as possible since I don't get many minutes to do things un-related to my legal pursuits. In otherwords, I want to burn cds, download content, surf the web, play games, and manage my finances without having to wait. My Dell met and exceeded all my needs and expectations.
The best part was the price. I wanted to buy a system that had a Pentium 3, 1 gig (1000 MHz)processor with a 40 gigabyte hard-drive and 128 megabytes of RAM. I price shopped across computer companies and retail stores and nobody even came close to the steal I got at Dell's website. I bought a refurbished system for under $1200 that met my specs, plus it had a cd burner, 19 inch monitor, and a decent pair of Harmon-Kardon speakers. The system also came with a mouse and keyboard. Windows ME office suite was pre-installed as well as the all drivers and devices for the hardware components, cards, and virus protection software.
Despite being tagged "refurbished", my computer runs at breakneck speeds like any other "new" system would. Research into "refurbished" sysytems by Dell exposed that Dell gurantees that all parts that needed repairs were replaced with new components. In most cases, however, the systems weren't returned for repairs in the first place. Any system that has been returned cannot legally or ethically be sold as a "new" system, so many deals can be had on these returned computers.
For people looking for superior performance at reasonable prices, I recommend spending some time at the Dell Website researching the refurbished systems to see if there are ones available that match your performance needs and price range. One word of advice: If you find a system you are interested in, you should either order it immediately or call immediately. These systems go fast. I nearly missed out on the one I wanted. I waited until the following day to order and the model I wanted was already sold, but lucky the associate on the phone was able to locate another system with the same specs.
