Below is the glowing review I gave Homeruns, a very short while ago. Since then, I had a couple terrible experiences with them, and have seriously reconsidered the business I was planning on doing with them.
Approximately one month ago, I placed an order with Homeruns, which they failed to deliver within the promised two-hour delivery time range. I called a half hour after the end time, and they informed me that they were understaffed and would have to deliver my groceries sometime within the NEXT two hour shift. Disturbed by this inconvenience, I asked for compensation, which they granted me -$20.00 off this delivery. I felt somewhat compensated by this offer, only to find that they failed to delivered yet again during that next two-hour shift. I was very upset by this big inconvenience, needless to say. Again, I called up to demand some compensation. They provided me with yet another $20.00, totalling now $40.00 off me groceries ("If I were to ever get them", I thought). The following day, early in the morning, was the scheduled time for this rescheduling, and yet again, they failed to deliver! I was furious at this. They finally delivered within the next two-hour shift. At the very least, the delivery man was polite and considerate. Okay, my groceries were cheap, but the inconvenience was not worth the lower bill. Despite my husband's advise to not order with Homeruns again, I proceeded to give them one last try. (Perhaps I wanted to end off on a good note?) Not surprisingly, they failed to deliver. Apparently, they said again that they were understaffed, in addition to the delivery person getting lost on the way to my house. When they finally arrived, I refused the groceries. I will not order with Homeruns now, despite their claim to make some drastic changes regarding their organization. I am done. Caput. Now we'll be dragging ourselves to the market.

(First review)
I decided to order through Homeruns after receiving a $10.00 off coupon along with their advertisement in my mail. It caught my attention -the thought of being able to select grocery items from home, while still in pajamas, and have the food delivered right to my kitchen was very appealing to me. And sure, the $10.00 off was another incentive, especially since I hold the title of "Coupon Queen".
The first time I tried ordering through their web site, I had a ball. Being able to click on my food choices actually was fun. I was also impressed my the organization of the site, as food in separated into categories. Actually, every step of the ordering process was exciting (I must have a boring life, you think). At the end of the order, you can confirm your purchases, and offer specific instruction to the delivery person regarding food selection and delivery.
The next morning, I received my delivery right on time (at the beginning of the 2 hour delivery time range.) The delivery person was polite, and very friendly. He was also patient as I looked over each item to confirm that I received all that I had requested. In addition, he gave us a pineapple and a plush toy as a way of expressing Homeruns' appreciation for our patronage. Boy, were we impressed. Overall, it all left a very position impression on us.
We have since ordered 3 more times from Homeruns, and are still pleased, although there are a few disappointments. First, the web site has froze each time after the first use. This has only lengthened the time it took to shop, which somewhat defeats the purpose of online shopping. Another downfall is that some items are not listed as being out of stock, and this is only found out when they deliver the food. This is especially disappointing since you might have ordered something else to replace that missing item if you had only knew when ordering. And last, the selection could be improved. Under some categories, there is an abundance of brand name items. Under others, you have little selection. The company does take requests for items, but I have yet so see them add my requests. I have to be fair in saying, though, that I have been a customer for only 5 weeks, and only recently requested certain items they didn't carry.
One last plus: they will give you 3 coupons of $25.- off your total purchases (over $50) after the 3rd visit, and they are each to be used separately at the next 3 visits thereafter. I used one already, and this Coupon Queen was mighty happy.
