I got this game when I picked up a game called Sega Smash Pack 2, which contains other great games like Sonic the hedgehog 2, and shining force.
This has to be one of the most entertaining games on the pack, with puzzle's, item's, combo's, and other stuff to make an entertaining game.
Story.
Sketch Turner is a starving comic book artist. He's got a new comic book called Comix zone that could bring him some big bucks if he ever finishes it. One stormy night while finishing it a lighting storm causes Sketches villain, Mortius to come to life. Mortus trap's Sketch in his own Comic book, so in order for Sketch to escape he'll have to beat all the bad guy's from the Comic book.
Graphic's.
The graphic's aren't bad coming for a port coming from the Sega Genesis. You got some really smooth animation, and all the color's match that of a comic book. Also each of the action scenes takes place in a comic’s square, which Sketch will jump out of after the battles over. Another interesting animation is that whenever you hit an enemy is that they flash turn in to black and white drawings every time they get hit, it's a pretty good effect. There is also the spoof of the old batman show for every time some one gets hit, there is a Kaplow sign.
Sound.
The music is nothing great, of course you'll be to busy hearing the sound's of the big hit's. There are also some pretty fuzzy voices, for instances every time you complete a stage you hear Sketch go "Oh Yeah".
Gameplay.
There's more to advance here then just beating up bad guy's. In fact this game has relatively few bad guy's. Sketch will have to push crates, use a radioactive rat, and us item's to figure out puzzles. Failure in figuring out a puzzle can cause major damage to Sketches life bar, and he only has one. To also make the game more interesting there is more then one way thorough a stage, each stage has it's fork in the road where Sketch can choose a direction to go in. This provides some replay value has there is one bad thing in the game, and that it's incredibly short, just 6 short stages.
Even if it's short, there is more then multiple routes going for this, the enemy's all though few in number are incredibly hard to kill. You have to pull off combos in order to survive, even if most of the battles are one on one. Another thing that help's is that there is two ending's to get, depending on how fast you beat the last guy.
Final recommendation.
Comix zone is definite a good pick up. It's available in Sega Smash Pack 2 available for 10 dollars.
