And only the news they want you to read. Rochester, NY has only one newspaper and it presents only half the news. Their political bias in editorials and even the news stories is so politicized it's a wonder all the right hand pages aren't left blank. They never had anything good to say about Ronald Reagan and they dismiss every scandal of the Clinton administration as irrelevant or a political vendetta by the "vast right wing conspiracy". That might be acceptable on the editorial page but for this paper it's a requirement for the news as well.

As an example, the police chief (a Republican) in a local suburb was hounded by the county District Attorney (a Democrat) for having a handgun in his safe at the police station, without having a permit for it. For months we heard how we had a criminal police officer in our midst. When the case finally got before a judge, it was dismissed. He's a cop. Having a gun is not a crime for a cop, especially a gun locked in a safe in police headquarters. You would not have known that by reading this newspaper. They really wanted him replaced for having a gun. The editorials on this and the news stories all sounded the same. You couldn't tell them apart.

I want my news right down the middle. If you have an opinion on a news story, label it as such and keep it on the editorial page. You don't get that with the D&C.
