| jesse12's Full Review: Lilo & Stitch |
One of Disney's greatest strengths has always been making cartoons. While many movies made by Disney are mediocre at best, Disney never disappoints in the cartoon business. Lilo and Stich is Disney's latest attempt, and is also one of the better Disney cartoons. The first thing that you will notice when the cartoon starts is that it's got style and seems more like an art piece. The artistic animation style is unique and impressive. The Hawaiian Island and indigenous Hawaiian characters are displayed in great fashion. The indigenous Hawaiian culture is revealed through this interesting animation style. The story is equally as clever as stich (the exiled alien) and his human companion Lilo (small native Hawaiian girl) both suffer from not fitting in with society and the ugly duckling syndrome. There are also plenty of funny moments throughout the cartoon, like some of the different aliens. There was alien in particular that I found funny. The alien had a body like a space suit with a glass bubble filled with water for a head. Inside of that glass bubble was the alien's real body that was a small squid like creature swimming around. Whenever the got scared, he hid in the bottom of the bubble. I thought that was very clever and amusing. That particular alien is not one of the main characters, but one of the background characters, so keep an eye out. The music score is awesome. Many of the songs are sung in the native Hawaiian language, and do much to reveal the music of that culture. The voice acting is also appropriate for the different characters
Conclusion
As you might notice, Disney's has always been good at personalizing many of the world's different cultures, and that holds even truer with Lilo and Stich. This cartoon is filled with the classic Disney magic, and is one of Disney's more lighthearted cartoons. All of you Disney fans will love Lilo and Stich because it is just to clever and has so much style.
