Pros:DELL has won first place in the reliability polls for several years.
Cons:Hard to get through the phone system to get help at times.
The Bottom Line: This kind of desktop is qualified by many experienced people to be the one that is the best and which will be the least frustrating etc. in the long run.
It took me a while to convert to Dells. I was a Hewlett Packard guy all the way, with 3 of their desktops to prove it. But when I started talking to the pros, they convinced me that DELL was the golden light at the top of Computer Hill. I have not been disappointed 4 DELL computers later.
The DELL DIMENSION T700r is an example of that stellar engineering I have come to associate with Mike Dell's little outfit down in Round Rock, Texas.
All computers are going to give you a certain amount of trouble, but this unit is by far the least troublesome I have ever seen.
I outfitted it with a CD Rom, a CD burner, a 250 Mb Zip drive, a lot of extra RAM, and a humungous hard drive along with the floppy drive. They all work together just fine like the Rockettes doing a kick-your-leg routine together at Rockefeller Center. Then I had it plugged into my office network. It made our IT guy smile to set it up.
No, I haven't been disappointed. It zooms through its workload and for both work and play it has been just great.
You want the best? I'd say you couldn't get much better than one of these little babies. Or their later derivatives. By now it's probably obsolete but it will live on for a long time to come. A DELL is about as far as you can go from computer HELL.
