A La Zing -- the only thing to get "zing-ed" is your wallet!

Enticed by a good promotional offer (reminiscent of those Omaha Steaks introductory offers, and rightly so, because A La Zing is a wholly owned Omaha Steaks company), I decided to try this seemingly great service that will help me in cooking a good meal.
What I Bought...and What I Actually Got
I got their sampler which included Chicken Cordon Bleu, pork chops, and sirloin steaks as the entrees, and assorted side dishes that came along with the meals to accompany the entrees (double-baked potatoes, vegetables of various sorts). I also decided to order a 4-person helping of Beef Stroganoff too to try to take advantage of the horrendously expensive $12.99 shipping charge.
Everything came in a nice styrofoam cooler packed with dry ice to keep everything frozen. Nice instructions came with each entree.
Test Time -- What was the Food Like
The main entrees were all excellent. The pork chop, steak, and Chicken Cordon Bleu were of nice quality, albeit small. The side dishes, however, were another story...the roasted vegetable medley contained small chopped bits of carrots, cauliflower, and some snowpeas. Stuff you would hardly call "gourmet." The double baked potatoes were good, but nothing you couldn't either make yourself or buy frozen in the grocery store as well.
The beef stroganoff was the biggest insult...$20 for two plastic trays that were smaller than most microwave meals you find for less than $3.99 at the supermarket. These two trays were supposed to feed FOUR people!!! That is a laugh. It had overly salty sauce along with tough cuts of beef (Read: CHEAP CUTS) and barely any pasta at all. I had to boil more pasta and add my own fresh mushrooms.
VERDICT: Skip it.
At these prices they're charging, they'd better be at least giving people some decent quality stuff. But they don't.
Not only that, You still have to microwave, bake, pan-fry the ingredients. You'd have an easier (and possibly less expensive) time at a restaurant.
The last thing I'd mention is that the food is NOT what you would call "healthy fare" either. Most of the stuff was pretty bad on the nutritional scale -- lots of fat.
Go find a decent cookbook. You'd be better off.
