Yahoo is one of the big boys on the (WWW) World Wide Web. They have some 185 million users each month. Therefore they get lots of other companies advertising on there sites and search engines. That in my opinion is the big downfall with anything you do with Yahoo / Geocities. I had even purchased a premium package from them in order to get rid of all the banner and pop-up ads. As well as get my own (URL) site name, more storage and an e-mail account. I never did get the service I was seeking. My gaming site had lots of Yahoo ads on it! It was hard to tell if I was on my Yahoo page or my gaming site...I also understand that nothing is for free and their advertisers are what keeps them a float.
Now that I am done sniveling there are lots good things to tell about Yahoo. If you are like I was and have no idea how to build a web page / site, Yahoo is flat out hard to beat! One of the many things they offer is their free web sites. You can build a very large site with all sorts of goodies. I know, I know... Your thinking that's great Mac but I can't build a web site! You can at the Geocities / Yahoo site! They have what is called the Yahoo page wizard. With this set-up my dear old grand mother could build a page. You just pick which templates (patterns) you want then fill in the text and upload any pictures or graphics you want and whala you now have a web page!

Advertisements
The advertising never stops here! Even if you purchase one of their packages you as well as your visitors will hammered with ads of all kinds! They say in their package promotions that there will be no ads once you purchase a plan. I have purchased a plan and the ads never do stop...
Yahoo E-Mail
The Yahoo e-mail set up is probably the best service they offer. You get a large amount of space and you can gain access to it from anywhere that you have access to the Internet. The user interface is straight up and simple. They also separate the Spam & trash into a bulk mail folder. I use and enjoy their e-mail service every day.
You can access your e-mail account from anywhere.
In addition you will get 4MB FREE Storage, SPAMGUARD and POP Access to External Mail.
The Yahoo Search Engine
The yahoo search engine used to be very average as far as getting the results that you were looking for. They have done a lot of work on there web spiders and crawlers. In my opinion they are now only second to Google. If you take a sentence from one of my old reviews and search for it on the Yahoo search engine, you will in fact find my review.
Sentence:
Game Developer is for the gamer that goes one step further. Game Developer's target audience are the designers,

It is in fact that review. The only other search engine that I find better is Google.
Your Account
Your account is accessed through your main front page. This is where you keep all of your secret information. You can edit your front page layout and content, your passwords and get to your web pages from here. You can also set up My Wallet, Paydirect and Yahoo Companion from here. These are some of the many new ways to pay for everyday things through the Internet. You can also set up accounts so you can shop via the Internet. All of your Credit Card information is double protected here. You have to enter you password and then a security key number / password. Your information is as safe with Yahoo as you can get on the Internet.
Your account information is set up and stored here.

Final Thoughts
If you are new to HTML and building web pages give Yahoo / Geocities a try! That is where I got my start four years ago. It does take some work but you can figure it out! The other two services that I find useful are the e-mail service and the Yahoo search.
Thanks for the read...
