Pros:Synchronize with web pages. MapQuest is handy.
Cons:Slows synch time drastically.
The Bottom Line: Excellent information provider, but subject to net traffic problems. Slows synchronization significantly.
Avant Go is a wonderful application, don't get me wrong. It supports a wide variety of channels that you can download to your Palm/Visor/Clie/TRGPro. (Maybe even use wirelessly, but I'm not that connected yet). You can get news, weather, driving directions, flight information, and probably anything else you want, and update every time you synchronize.
So, what's the drawback? The more you add, the slower your synchronization goes. It can easily add 3-5 minutes to a synchronization on my cable modem. That's a BIG impact.
Also, its really easy to get too much stuff and fill up your palm - an embarassment of riches.
The other problem is that if the remote site is not available on AvantGo's server when you sync up, you don't get the information. For straight "pass-through" services like MapQuest, if AvantGo can't get to the site when you press the sync button, you're out of luck.
Basically a tool that can all too easily become addictive.
