Pros: Very stylish, light weight, durable, external antenna for better signal.
Cons: Poorly made for a Nokia, flawed screen.
The Bottom Line: The phone is a great phone, but Nokia needs to release a permanent fix for this flawed screen.

| temlon's Full Review: Nokia 8890 GSM Cellular Phone |
I've had nothing but Nokia cell phones since day one. Starting with the 2160, 6160, then finally the 8860. All were great phones, never had a problem with any of them. About 2 years ago I switched from AT&T to Cingular because the Nokia 8890 was finally available in the states. Let me tell you, it is NOT worth it. The Nokia 8890 is a very stylish phone, but has a MAJOR manufacture defect in it. The screen on it has a pad that connects the back of the screen to the circuit board, but was designed to small. The pad moves around in the phone and you lose display on your screen. If you squeeze the top of the screen near the ear piece, you will get your picture back since you're now forcing the connection between the screen and the circuit board, but why pay $400-$600 for a phone that you have to squeeze in order to see the display?
Cingular has been very good about replacing my screens, but having to replace my screen every 4 months is a nightmare. I've had 2 8890's (lost the first one) and they both do it (The Nokia 8290 has the same problem). My parents both have 8890's and theirs do it as well. Cingular admits there is a problem and knows how to fix them. If you're having a problem with your screen (IE: garbled text, faded display, or no display at all) take your phone to an authorized Cingular dealer and they will replace your screen free of charge (if you've got the warranty with your service).
