I certainly would not call myself a supreme gamer but I have always enjoyed sitting down for some late night fragmentation and relaxation.
After seeing the performance of some of my newer games decline, I decided I needed to upgrade my TNT2 card to something a bit more advanced. This purchase was not only for the games I currently own (Quake III, Return to Wolfenstien, Medal of Honor), but hopefully for the games I buy over the next year or two.
After removing the old card and installing the new card in the AGP slot, I booted and was surprised that Windows XP had no trouble making the card operational. I then went to the Nvidia web site and downloaded the latest "Detenator" drivers for Windows XP. THIS IS IMPERATIVE to get optimal gaming performance.
After installing the drivers and rebooting, I loaded "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" and experienced the game as it was truly meant to be. So much awesome detail without studder, hesitation or frames dropping. I also had great results with Medal of Honor and Grand Theft Auto III (which as many people know, is a total video resource hog).
I paid $199 for this card at Circuit City and felt it was worth every penny. However, I would look for the price of the card to be less at online retailers. I would also suggest sticking with a "bigger" manufacturer like PNY, they have decent support and add a bit more quality into thier products.
