I openly admit that I am a cheapskate. I honestly could not see paying $170 for a high chair when you could get one that looked similar for $60. Once again my wife is telling me, "I told you so", and I hate it when she does that. The Primo Pappa chair makes life so much easier than the cheaper models. I have friends and family whose wifes let them get a way cheap, and I laugh every time I see them feeding their baby.
The Primo Papa has four wheels for easier mamuevering, with the rear two locking to make for added saftey. This is nice when you have a kitchen the size of ours and need to move around. The lesser priced brands such as Fisher Price, have either two wheels on the back or none at all making moving the child with you a wrestling match.
Their are seven hieght adjustments on the Primo to fit a variety of feeders. At 6'3" I need the seat adjusted to it's highest setting, while my short wife, at 5'2", needs it almost slammed to the ground. While cheaper models are adjustable to an extent, it can be very hard to adjust without a baby in the seat, let alone with one. The primo uses to easily accessed handles that allows the frame to slide up and down very easily.
The seat has three reclining adjustments that allow the chair to be used for other activities when not feeding. It has a middle postition that allows for comfortable play while mom or dad is busy in the vicinity. The fully reclined postition makes a very comfy spot for a sleeping baby. Again the cheaper priced models fail to contend with the Primo, most of the "under $100" models have no recline at all. One complaint I have heard of other models is that there is too much space between the tray and the baby. This is not true with the Primo, while you can adjust the space to two settings, the closest leaves no room for mess while not sacrifising the comfort of the baby.
The seat of the particular Primo I purchased is made of a leather materical that allows easy clean up with out sticking to the baby. Unlike most Chairs that I have seen, the Primo comes standard with a five point harness that makes wiggleing free impossable. My biggest fear is turning my back for a second and finding my son face down on the floor. The five point harness sees that this will never happen.
The tray is made of heavy plastic and cleans up very easily. Being that while my wife is away, I like to procrastinate the dishes, I love the secondary tray that clamps nicely on top of the other. When I'm finished with the feeding, I can simply unsnap the tray and still have a tray for the baby to play on, or if I am having a really good day, eat on for the next feeding.
Yes I have to admit, my wife was right on this occasion, quality and saftey out rule price. I would pay twice the $170.00 the Primo costs for the piece of mind alone. It's nice knowing that not only will your child be comfortable and happy, but also safe.
