Simply put, this company is devious in their practices, and worse yet, throw a 'we don't have to be ethical' attitude in your face because the law doesn't require that.
I own a computer store and from time to time, have to find a closeout model for a customer for a specific need. I did this with an HP840C, and ended up on Compuvest. I went to their list of Inkjet printers, saw the HP840C and ordered it. On that list of 12 printers, 2 were notated as refurbs, but the HP840C was not one of them. I was surprised to receive a refurbished 840C, and even more shocked at the appalling lack of concern from Compuvest. I was even accused of being a "reckless" shopper by someone in their RMA dept. I had a rep from my credit card company go to the site, and he agreed with me that it was made to look as if the 840C was new. I was informed by Compuvest that had I gone into the product description page I would have seen the refurb tag, which I have since done and have seen. My contention is that I saw some items described as refurbs and others not, and I knew what I was looking for and therefore did not need to get a description on the item. That was where the reckless comment came in, and I was told to check every item description on their site as it wasn't their job to tell me if it was refurb or not. Why then did they make that tag on other printers? They couldn't answer that and now refuse all my calls. I have refuted the charge to out credit card company and vowed never to shop with them again.
The ironic thing is all their e-mails to me come signed "Shopping online can't be any easier". Save yourselves some aggravation and avoid this company altogether.
