Pros:enhanced graphics, good sound effects
Cons:slow loading!!! way to expensive!!!
poor DVD quality!!!
The Bottom Line: My final recommendation is wait. wait for either the prices to go down, or the bugs to be worked out.
Just what do you think the people at Sony were thinking when they let the marketing division hype up the PS2 so much?
I find it incomprehensible that Sony has allowed the greatest gaming system ever to be tarnished by poor product development in the name of profit!!! In the past Sony took pride in the games that have revolutionized the world as we know it. The Sony Playstation of the past was not only a gaming system, it was also a teacher, a friend to some, and to some {I speak of Tomb Raider and Laura Croft} an intimate companion. The PS2 on the other hand is as frustrating as the old Atari 2600. I'm taking bets with my family about how long it will take to completely breakdown. With all of the hype that went into the marketing ploy Sony blanketed the world with I expected a lot more for my money. The biggest dissapointment of all is the amount of time it takes to load between sequences. I'm an edge player, always on the edge of my seat, holding on to that rush, preparing for the next scene, ready to battle, race, run, or any one of thousands of action packed moves designed to keep me on edge!!! But by the time the PS2 loads the next scene I'm already cold. How am I going to keep the rush like that???
Then theres the terrible DVD quality. Whoever decided that the PS2 was ready for marketing is obviously only out to make a few {ahem, billions} of dollars off of the people who have grown to trust Sony with all of their entertainment needs. To sacrifice the needs and desires of the faithful followers of the Playstation in the name of the almighty yen seems almost selfish to me.
Hopefully the next generation will have all of the bugs worked out. I just hope that I wont have to mortgage my house to buy it.
