Pros:A cheap TV Tuner/Capture Card
Cons:Windows 2000 support is limited
The Bottom Line: Cost-effective for home use, relatively easy to use, you also get a remote control with the card.
PCTV pro TV Tuner/Capture card from Pinnalce is a cost-effective card for home user to watch TV on computer, and also capture analog video to computer, and make your own moview using the following format: AVI, MPEG-2 (VCD) and Real.
After using this card for several months, I found this card is a good choice for home use, I successfully installed this card in my Compaq Presario 5716 (PIII 450/96MB RAM/15GB HD) under Windows 98. I can watch the TV program, but because of my Video card, I can not watch TV in full screen mode. I can capture the video from my VCR without any problem, and video quality is good enough for me to create Video CD (mpeg-2 352x240 30fps). But the software attached with this card is poorly support and has bug to create movie using mpeg format. I have to create the movie using avi format, and convert it to mpeg using other software. The support for windows 2000 is poor, the machine was frozen every time I run the studio vision program. But I successfully watch TV under windows 2000 using freeware DScaler.
After all, I think this is a cost-effective card for home user, and it is relatively easy to use, and the package also contains a remote control.
