During our recent relocation from Tennessee to Florida, we used Penske Truck Rentals. To rent our moving truck, my husband scoured the internet to find the best deal. Penske was our truck of choice (read my scathing Penske Truck Rental review at http://www.epinions.com/content_70299324036).
The Product:
Penske Truck Rentals.com is an informational site as well as a retail site. They give lots of information about their services, products and company. You can find read about recent Penske news, the history of the company and even find out how to buy one of their trucks.
You can also get a rental price on a truck from the internet. You input your name, phone number and address as well as your email address. You also tell them what size truck you want and where you’re going with it. Whether it’s a one-day rental, or a one-way rental. You also tell them any insurances you want to include in the price. The site takes that information and produces a rental price for you and a pick up and drop off site.
Now, you won’t always get an answer to your queue. Why? Because the company has “blackout” dates. Meaning, you can’t get a quote online, you have to actually call the 800 number and talk to someone.
I recently tried to get a rental price on a local one-day rental and it happened to fall in the blackout date so I wasn’t able to get a price quote. Not that Penske would get my business again, just based on my recent negative experience with them, but just for the heck of it, I wanted to see what their price was.
On their website you can also find where their locations and their service locations are. You have the ability to contact Penske through their web-email and you can also request information from the site. These two seem to overlap each other. I’m not quite sure why they have both. Either way, you can contact the company with any questions or comments you may have.
You also have available to you from their site a search engine and a search map. Basically, anything you’d want to know about Penske can be found on their website. You want to buy a truck you say? No problem, you can get the info on how to do it from the web site. Need a mover for your business, you can find out what type of truck you need and how to go about renting it from the web site.
Navigation is super fast. Very easy and definitely idiot proof.
The web site is www.pensketruckrental.com
My Experience:
While surfing with my husband for a moving truck, we surfed many sites. U-Haul, Budget and Penske are just a few that came to mind. Budget was actually the cheapest, but after getting our quote from Penske we called the 800 number and asked them to price compare. They did, and gave us the Budget price. The reason we wanted to use Penske is their pick up and drop off locations were more convenient to us. We’d also used U-Haul in the past and had a really negative experience with them
So Penske came down in price for us. Ever week or so my husband would check the website again. He’d create a new queue and get another price quote. One week before we needed the truck, he got a better deal. The quote was $25 less than our original quote. So he called the company and yes, they would honor the new price.
Too bad our experience with Penske trucks wasn’t as great as our experience with the website. It’s hard to give this site a high rating, as we had such a negative experience AFTER we rented the truck.
