The Lakeside Collection Doesn't Let You Collect Merchandise
by Prepoia | Jul 30 '02
I’m sure that you’ve all heard the expression, “Too good to be true.” Well, that certainly applies to The Lakeside Gifts Collection both online and by catalog. Their prices are wonderful on all that they offer. I’ve found out the hard way that the reason...

Lakeside works for me! (Reply to this comment)
by lakesuperior
I have been a customer of lakeside (Lakeside Collection) for 7 years I have had few problems but then I am use to how they work. I usually get 90% of my orders; only the items shipped are ever charged to my credit card so this is fine in my opinion. They send an email telling you what items are out-of-stock. It usually takes a month to receive the out-of-stock items; you can choose to cancel them or wait on them. When they are shipped they charge your credit card for the items being shipped. That seems pretty normal to me. If you realize that they sell many thousands of items and that you're probably not going to get 100% of your order I don't see why it's a major problem as they don't charge you for the out-of-stock merchandise anyway. To save about 50% over store prices it's a good deal I have no complaints:) However, if you're in a hurry for your merchandise Lakeside is not for you! When I order Christmas gifts I order them no later then November 10th as they can be very slow during the holiday season.

Lakeside Collection is great! (Reply to this comment)

I've ordered lots of different things from Lakeside Collection over the years. I've received everything I ordered (with one exception) and have been very happy with my purchases. (The exception was an item I ordered from an older catalog) The prices are great and the quality is good. Their shipping is a bit on the slow side and once I had to wait for a back-order. (However, that back-order was for an item that they had at about 50% of the best price I could find anyplace else so it was worth the wait.) Give it a try for yourself or you are missing out on some excellent bargains.

Lakeside is by far the worst company I've ever dealt with! (Reply to this comment)
by suga123
Waiting 7-14 days just for them to ship out an order is out of control, of course it took them 16 days to ship out mine. Any company I've dealt with, both big and small took 3-5 days to ship out items. It is ridicules to wait that long. I received a damages items, after 4 days of sending emails I finally received a reply saying my return has been authorized and I will receive a separate email with a shipping label, well its been over a week and still no email. Stay away from this company. EBay has the same things Lakeside has, normally for cheaper, plus you will get it faster!

Very pleased with Lakeside! (Reply to this comment)

I actually have been extremely pleased with both the Lakeside catalog and the online ordering. My mom and I both have ordered several items and have been very pleased, and we recommended the catalog to several other family members, who were also very impressed. In fact, I recently bought a desk that was about 1/4 of the price of the ones in our local stores. I was very pleased and shocked to find the quality was just as good as the ones in the store, too!

I just wanted you to know that this was NOT a one time problem that I had with the company. I am happy that someone somewhere did receive the promised items but I've tried twice and my grown son tried ordering too, with the same results that I experienced. Just wanted to let a new rater know that we are supposed to rate on the review not whether or not we agree with the review. Thanks for reading and leaving a comment to let others know that someone did have a good experience.

I am sorry that this person had a bad experience with Lakeside Collection since the company was wonderful with my order. I ordered over $100.00 worth of merchandise that will be used for Christmas gifts. I got these items around two weeks later and they were in perfect condition. I could not have been happier.

Thanks for the warning. Does NOT sound like a good experience at all.

Better luck in the future! :o)

I was all excited... (Reply to this comment)

...about being able to buy a chenille throw for $14.95--until you told me you didn't get it. I guess it is easy to offer great prices on things you don't plan to sell or deliver.

Ah, a pity.

I've read about some other online stores that submit the entire charge, regardless of whether they ever ship the merchandise. So at least you were lucky.

Margaret

BTW - I think you omitted a word, which I've put in bold: "...such good prices is that they have no intention of ever selling you the items...

and other than less people in the packaging/shipping department.....the rest of the employees MUST do the same amount of work on this out of stock business and get paid too! Maybe it's one of those tax loss schemes. lol

....you really feel. Wow, I don't think I've ever read a review of yours where you've been more ticked off.

Great job, Sandy. No, I can't imagine how a company stays in business not delivering what they offer. I'd be interested to find out though, just out of curiousity. If I adopt their business model, and then actually deliver the stuff so I can make money, I'll be rolling in it, huh?

Thanks for the warning. I'll keep away from them as a customer.
