| anniedh's Full Review: Dell Dimension 4300 Series |
Okay I have had a computer since 1994. I was amazed at how my 486DX just signed onto the internet in record (4-5 minutes) time! hehehehe
Okay enough of the jokes about the dinosaur computer that we started with. We are now the proud owners of a Dell Dimension 4300 and an HP (don't ask what the hp is... it's only about a year old and just stinks...end of story OR MAYBE ANOTHER EPINION!?)
Here is my almost expert opinion about our Dell 4300. I say expert because I am a mother of three and I work 2 jobs. I am probably the target customer of a profile of a normal dell user!
I purchased the Dell 4300 for my children for Christmas 2001 last year and if I had to be truly honest, I use their computer more than I use my own HP which is only about a year old too!
Reason? Because the Dell never locks up. I never get screen freezes. And it is sooooo fast! And last but not least: YOU DON'T NEED TECH SUPPORT!
Even though we got Free Tech Support (that was one of the reasons I decided to purchase the Dell) We never need it!
Tech service? Well we haven't needed to call them except when my daughter had a problem with email and decided to call them. She asked one day: "Mom, can I call Dell to see why bla bla bla bla.....?" After listening to her question, I decided not to answer it and let her call Dell.
She is 16 years old and just couldn't wait to call! I figured it was best to have her learn on her own why I don't call Tech Support.
I rolled my eyes several times, when I saw her reboot as she was told by tech support to reboot. I even laughed out loud when she looked to see if the computer was plugged in!!! hehehehehe They told her to make sure that the dell was plugged in! hehehehe I only supervised the conversation from the other side of the room because I was afraid that they were going tell her to reformat!!!! They didn't - Thank God!
And they did actually solve her problem after about 45 minutes on the telephone! They told her to call MSN, our isp!!!! hehehehe
Does every tech go to the same school? Are they all told: "Ask them to reboot first or ask them if their computer is plugged in?" Or do they all read "Technical Support for Dummies?"
SHE ONLY ASKED: "WHY IS MY EMAIL GOING SO SLOW?....WHEN MY MOM SENDS ME AN EMAIL - IT TAKES SEVERAL HOURS TO GET TO ME?"
Okay, back to how great I think "our" Dell is.......
I purchased the dell for the kids. Yes, for the kids, but like I said before and I will say it again. I do use it more than my own 1 year old hp computer.
Do we even need Tech support? Nah (so if their tech support is an issue to anyone reading this... fine don't get a Dell. But if a computer that doesn't need tech support interests you? THEN GET A DELL!!!!
Below - between the lines..... is what our dell actually has... I guess you call it all the specs....
In conclusion of what I think of our Dell Dimension 4300...
I love it! My children want me to go get my own and to that I say, "I will purchase a Dell for me one day!!!!!"
