Great buy unless you're typing a lot

  • User Rating: Excellent
  • Ease of Use:
  • Quality of Tech Support:
Pros:Price/performance combination Great screen
Cons:Mousepad and Mousestick have a mind of their own
The Bottom Line: Good low-end choice. NOT for serious word-processing due to mouse problem.

Excellent combination of features, performance and price. Excellent software tutorials and problem solvers. Dell's ordering website and configuration capabilities are the best. I've had no problems whatsoever with ordering, delivery, reliability and functionality except one important case: pressure on the keyboard (e.g. from your palms resting on it during typing) can trigger a "mouseclick" meaning that the cursor jumps to wherever the mouse is, a real problem if you're typing away. Getting an external mouse didn't help me, because I couldn't figure out how to turn of the keyboard pointing devices when the external mouse was connect. Also, if you're using this notebook mainly at home, get the port replicator because one USB port is not enough. The built-in speakers aren't very powerful, either.
