Pros: Excellent web cam clarity, compact, sleek design
Cons: Still images leave something to be desired.
The Bottom Line: Excellent clarity as a web cam. Not recommended for stills other than emailing.

| crackrzz's Full Review: Creative Labs PC cam 600 Digital Web Cam |
After carefully researching all of the combination web/digital cameras, I decided on this one. There were glowing reviews on CNet, ZDNet and other sites. In retrospect, I think what they were saying was that it is the best one of its type (web/digi cam combo). But not for a web designer.
Set up was easy. The web cam is the best clarity I've ever seen. You wouldn't believe how many blurry web cams there are out there.
However, if you're after equally sharp still images, look elsewhere. Under certain conditions, I got a few decent shots. I took it to an IT trade show and took about sixty five pictures. Only a handful turned out web worthy. Forget red eye... white eye is a problem here. Many of my subjects looked like they were possessed. :( I'm not a professional photographer by any stretch of the imagination, but I know that pictures aren't supposed to come out like this.
I paid $260 CDN for it. My main reason was not because it was a web cam; that was secondary. I wanted something I could take stills for web sites with. If it were a blurry web cam and produced great stills I would be satisfied.
So, I plan on investing in a Canon "A" series... most likely A20 or A40. Doesn't seem to be a whole lot of difference. Not a web cam, but what the heck... web cams are going down in price and there has to be a decent one out there somewhere.
