Pros: It is from Creative Labs, which says enough, can be had cheap
Cons: none so far
The Bottom Line: It has been a great card for the price that I got it for. Does not support digital sound.

| jse8's Full Review: Creative Sound Blaster PCI512 |
When I built my computer system from scratch, the computer whiz who was helping me said I should definitely get a sound card from Creative Labs. I understand now why he said such a thing.
The PCI512 is on the low end of the Creative Labs sound card line but it still works great. It was very easy to install and it was up and running as fast as I could turn the computer off and on again. It has given me no problems and in fact has worked rather well. I have a set of SoundBlaster PC Soundworks with subwoofer coming out of the sound card and I have never been disappointed in the sound.
The reason this card works for me is that I do not do anything digital on my computer such as use a DVD player or digital video camera and I do not have a full surround set of speakers. If I ever were to uprgrade to a great set of speakers or start using my computer to watch DVD movies, I would probably get a new sound card that supported digital out sound. However, at this time I am perfectly content with this sound card. It really sounds great and in reality has outperformed my expectations for a sound card that I picked up for about $40.
It does have line in, line out, mic in, and midi support. That's about all you need if you are going to keep it simple.
