Pros: GSM, cool phones, lots of included features, no long distance and no roaming.
Cons: I haven't come across any personally.
The Bottom Line: Not all wireless services are for everyone, do your research before signing up. This service is right for me and my needs.

| mrs_dan's Full Review: General Reviews of T-Mobile Customer Service |
I have read some of the other reviews on this topic and I have to disagree. I am extremely pleased with the service I get with VoiceStream. I made my purchase at the local retail store after doing extensive research on my local calling area, reading all the terms and conditions and all the "small print" (after being biten before with Sprint PCS).
I live in the greater metro area of Nashville, TN and travel all over the South quit a bit.
The plan I selected, "Get More 3000" is an awesome deal if you use a PCS phone a lot. 3000 Whenever minutes to use day or night, week day or weekend. I got a FREE Nokia 3390 for activating and signing a one year agreement for service.
VoiceStream's service is what is known as GSM or Global System for Mobile Communication, meaning it is a global service. If I was someone that travels to Europe, etc... as long as I have a dual or tri-band phone, (900 or 1800Mhz) I can use my service globally. 1900 Mhz phones are good for North America.
The other cool thing about VS is the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card, which can be related to a computer chip. It's a small plastic "chip" or card which has to be used on all GSM phones. This card identifies who I am and stores all my info and my phone list(250 numbers). So if I want to use a different phone every day of the week, all I have to do is take the SIM out of one phone, pop it in the other and I am good to go. No activating anything.
The plan I selected is a regional rate plan which covers 13 southern states, which include TN, GA, AL, FL and KY which are the only states I call to and from with no long distance or roaming charges at all. (They have Nationwide plans available)
Some of the included features on my phone are; caller I.D., voicemail, call forwarding, call waiting, 50 incoming text messages free, and AOL instant messenger.
I have contacted the VS customer service, which is a free call from my handset by dialing 611, only once for a question I needed answered and the person I spoke with took care of what I needed and was very professional about it.
My bills have been correct with no weird charges on them.
(I've had service for 2 months now but was a former Powertel customer, which VS bought out, for over a year in 2000 in KY).
Another thing I like is the website. voicestream.com because I can sign up there, get the most recent copy of my bill, see what minutes I have used so far, before my bill cycle ends, download ringtones and screensavers to my phone, check coverage areas, keep up on the newest rate plans and latest phones and personalize it to my needs.
I personally feel that yes, with any company you deal with, their are going to be people you run into that DON'T care and could care less about your issues, take their name and ID number and call back till you get the "right" person and report the "problem child" is how I feel about it. If you are going to get ANY service that requires you to sign up for a year or better and has a huge cancellation fee, make sure you research before you sign on the dotted line (I've made that mistake before myself). Most wireless providers are more concentrated in greater metro areas and along highways because this is where the bulk of the consumers are.
As far as coverage goes, I have used it while traveling from Louisville, KY all the way to Key West, FL and I had great reception for 99% of my trips. The sound has been clear. Just like with radio stations, wireless phones operate by using radio signals and if you are in a valley or around mountains, your signal and of course phones calls can be unclear or even dropped at times. Then when in major metro areas where thousands of people are using wireless at the same time, this can also affect your service (the reason so many providers prefer that you use night and weekend minutes).
Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.
