More Dead Than Alive. by fartzarellah | Aug 06 '02 Pros: Revved up version of "Children of The Grave". Nice jazz improv. Cons: Ozzy-horribly out of tune, some songs in the wrong key, poor production, much more.

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't like the 20-minute version of "Wicked World". The blues jam and the riffs from other songs made that one of my favorite solos ever. Personally, I think that you were a little bit harsh on the songs being in the wrong key, too, but we obviously have differing musical tastes. (also, I've only heard the original Vynal version, so I'm not sure if the CD is different or not)
Anyway, I would recommend locating a Sabbath bootleg if you didn't like this album.. there's an incredible boot called "Veil of Doom" that I'd highly recommend. I'm not sure what exactly will be released on the new live album.. anyway, if you can, get ahold of "Veil of Doom" and check out what Sabbath really sounded like live.

Yep, maybe so, but it still sounds awful in the wrong key. Plus, on the Reunion album, they seem to have finally figured it out and used different guitars. Ozzy seemed to hit the notes pretty well. I think they were probably just too stoned to figure it out back then :)
As far as Iommi just being one man, I sympathize with the poor fellah, but once again, the songs lose something because of it.
Thanx for your thoughts!

Songs in different key... that could be explained by the fact that Ozzy isn't the best live singer in the world and for some songs he had to drop the key drastically just to hit his notes. Better to not hit low notes than to not hit high notes, they probably reasoned.
As far as chords disappearing during solos... and no harmony parts... well, Iommi is only one man. As far as I know Sabbath never toured with an auxillary guitarist. So one guitar = only one guitar part... unless you're Brian May and have 20 different delay settings available on command, that is.
