One of my favorite stores for ideas

One Step Ahead carries some of the most innovative toys and baby care products. When I was shopping for both my kids, they often showed products I had not seen anywhere else that my children also loved playing with. Special mobiles, wonderful car seat wraps, adorable coats and shoes. And great toys that did not show up in brick and mortar stores until months later. In fact, some of their most wonderful products are specially designed just for them, and you can't get them anywhere else. I think all expectant mothers should peruse their catalog before they begin shopping so they don't miss any opportunities. The assortment alone gives it my recommendation.
Customer service is very helpful. One time I ordered a sand table and it came with (I though) a leg missing. I immediately called the store and they shipped a new one out free of charge within two days. (I'm embarrassed to say that my husband found the missing leg when he picked up the table). And there have been times when I've placed an order and changed my mind about an item. A quick call to customer service, and all was corrected. And lastly, for Chicago area residents, my sister once had a last minute baby shower to attend, and they let her stop by the warehouse and pick up a product on her way there. I don't know if they will do that for just anyone, but that they even did it this once speaks volumes about their commitment to customer service.
They are also great with returns. If you don't like it, return it. No problem.
The only real problem is this...about 20% of their products are available more cheaply at other on-line merchants. If they offered a price-match guarantee or even shopped around themselves and lowered prices accordingly, I would give them a much more glowing recommendation. As such, when I find something in the catalog I like, I check around first to see if I can find it cheaper elsewhere and buy it there. But keep an eye on their sales, because sometimes you can get great deals, especially on end of season merchandise like beachwear or adorable Halloween costumes.
