| padamopoulos's Full Review: Sony Handycam DCR-PC120BT Mini DV Digital Camcorde... |
I bought it a month ago in Europe. Its an expensive camcorder compared to all the others in the market but lets not fool ourselves: Its one of the best especially because of its small size. It has super-excellent video quality with very sharp and clear video performance (530 lines of hor.resolution is impressive, 1 CCD, 1.55 megapixels, 970,000 effective). It has lots of features including tons of faders, analog effects, digital effects, editing features and other stuff, things that even an amateur will find interesting and will ocassionally use.
The quality of the stills is great AS LONG AS you are quite close to the object (up to 8-9 ft). The PC120 BT camcorder operates as a 1.5 MP camera but lets not forget that this is always a camcorder and can not fully replace a 3.3 + digital camera. I have printed most of the pics that I have been shooting for more than a month now and can assure you that they provide excellent (5x7 and even larger) printouts. However personally I prefer taking pics (on a quite close distance) of my kids than taking landscape pictures at large distances.
The internet connectivity requires a BTA-NW1 bluetooth modem which costs approx. $199. Personally I will use the camera for emails and limited browsing (when going on vacations or so) however others say thats its only a gimmick. Has to do with your personal needs I'd say.
As for the ease of use I'd say that it couldn't be easier to use. I really can't understand those few users who said that the found some difficulty at the begining in getting used to setting of the camcorder. My wife who had never used a camcorder before was very comfortable with it from the first few seconds.
Overall I'd say that although its a bit pricey if you make good use of all those features it has, its way worth the money. Personally I wouldn't compromise for any other camcorder. If you really want to compare the technical specs of this camera with others (canon, sony, panasonic etc) I recommend that you use this site: www.consumerdvreviews.com. You'll get excellent feedback. Good luck to all of you. Keep reading reviews!
